Sentiment in the sector is against at the moment and probably a few closing out before the long weekend won't help

I think a lot of people go on about the past etc in responce to those making negative comments and to maybe try and be reassuring to those who have just bought in.
Remember those that did buy in at £3, 4 or less have seen it all before with GVC.
Don't think we're bragging by saying what price we bought in at , most are saying yes I stuck with them and look now!!!!
Worth the wait and so it will be for those getting in now and the lads deal gets bedded in.
A deal like this can appear a step too far but they were saying that about the BWin deal.

My goodnes we seem to have struck a raw nerve!

As has just been posted by Fest, simply filter those posters you do not want to read, for whatever reason. I am happy to give a counter argument when I think its valid. If I had taken the advice of the likes of Calahan I would have been a much, much poorer person!

PS I only filter posters who post vile and obviously fake news, so I am happy to leave Calahan unfiltered as nothing that he/she posted falls into either category.

Jealousy is a terrible thing Calahan. We'll discuss whatever we like, thanks all the same. The filter button is in the top right corner.

There are some things on this thread that are guaranteed. One of them being that whenever some people express a few doubts, or voice even a hint of a bearish opinion on the company, the same few individuals always come along to pat themselves (and each other) on the back and boast about how well they've done off of GVC.

"I've been in since £1"
"Well I've been in since 80p"
"Well I've been in since the Big Bang".

Or the other form of self/mutual eulogising we've just seen about how they've had all their investment back in the form of dividends and now have a free investment.

This habit of a few of you grew tiresome the very instance it started. This used to be one the very best threads on ADVFN, if not the best. And I would read it every day without fail (and long before I invested here back when I was just a potential investor). But over the past few years I've been reading it less and less and entirely because of the self eulogising of a few posters.

Give it a break already. Your past success with GVC doesn't give you some magical insight into the future of the company. Nor does it make your opinions any more valid or correct than other people's. The only thing it might give you is more faith in the management (than other investors would otherwise have), but it might also give you more chance of ignoring the downsides precisely because you have so much faith.

We get it okay. GVC has been a great share for you. Congratulations. Well done. But how about for the benefit of all thread participants, and for the purpose of discussing the future of GVC (and not the distant past), you cease and desist with all future boasting about what price you first bought in at, and/or how the years of dividends have 100% covered your investment. It serves no purpose other than showing off. And nobody benefits from it other than your own egos.

Me . I also met Ken and believe in his professionalism and those who were saying that the yield now is circa 3% do not forget that gvc pays special sometimes .

I'm out of GVC at the moment though, as I have had great capital growth in VRS from the mid teens, and it WILL surge again after the inevitable Chinese deal is signed into effect.I've made some nice money on TERN too, which I intend to take back to VRS.Eventually the plan is to re-establish a holding in GVC for the income, but the time isn't right yet.

It's amazing how bearish everyone suddenly seems to be!

Not for me. I know our CEO and have met his senior management team, and I am backing their expertise which has rewarded me handsomely. How many out their can join me in saying they have had ALL their investment back by way of dividend paid over a ten year period?

I think GVC will reduce the retail estate in their own time as the average Lads lease length is only around 3 years and I understand on many of their leases they have got very good get out clauses.

Some of the Lads betting shops are going to be turned in to Adult Gaming Centres.

In my local town within 400yds there are 2 Corals and 1 Lads which is far too many for the area and 800yds up the road there is yet another Corals.

Whilst GVC may have a plan to reduce the retail estate (and I hope they do!) to do it in your own time as the leases lapse etc is far better than doing it as a reaction to suddenly finding yourself with 500 loss making shops.

I think the market does see it, however the institutional share holders like to see a share price go up and down as this is how they make their real money where as most retail share holders are long and therefore only make money when the share price goes up and via the dividends paid.

I am definitely not a seller of GVC as could miss out when the US vote on PASPA which I understand is due in the next couple of months.

loganair..I like your argument about why £2 limit would be good for GVC.The question is why isnt the rest of the market seeing it that way?

Catching up with some posts and just read this from Mylands

"The likes of Turkey, which was a large unregulated market for GVC could have been shut down at anytime. With those markets no longer a threat, the company's valuation should over time reflect the sector and provide a material boost to the share price "

So the threat of a business closing was enough to reduce the share price - but ACTUALLY losing it for Nothing should make the share price go up ?

I'm sorry but saying that having a sword of Damocles above your head is worse than it actually chopping your head off is madness.......

GVC is one of my best shares with HGM for most profit made.First purchased on 31/01/2014 at 351.50p.I am holding a £22,100 Paper profit atm 878p plus dividends received of £8,769. and I should sell GVC.But seeing my average GVC share price inc Divi,s is 265p,and a 11% yield for me, why sell. But I will reduce when this recovers, and it will to around £10.Its oversold atm.I had a target price of £12,but looking distance atm.Maybe longer term. Also if £2 a spin, then GVC should increase the yearly dividend to around 40p a share

If the FBOT goes down to £2 per spin in stead of £20, it will take 7 years loss of expected EBITDA to make up for the extra GVC would have paid in the CVR to Lads if had been £20.

Even if came in at £20 I would expect to see at least 500 Lads retail shops close which would bring this 7 years to 9 years.

In a way it will be better for GVC for the FBOT's to be reduced to £2 as the loss of EBITDA is spread over many years whereas if comes in at £20 GVC will have to immediately pay the extra to the Lads share holders under the CVR.

Interesting list Gary, useful to see. The FTSE100, as it stands are we dependent on the ruling being north of £2 a spin to go in at next reckoning? There are a few seemingly contradictory elements to GVC progress at the moment. The uncertainty makes it hard to read the next share price move. For me it does seem like it could go a bit lower yet, although I would prefer the opposite!

Like I said, Gary, just like a Brexiteer - remembering those good old golden days that never actually were... as you say, there's loads of much better divis from solid companies currently available.

PS - RWS picking up a bit now...
