20/5/2024 10:12 | Being a pessimist I can see them holding the price back during this first 10 million, but harder to knock back a second and subsequent buy back. But anything may happen in the meantime. | petebreeze37
20/5/2024 10:00 | Seems most of the buyback today just happened, let's see if it holds | milliecusto

20/5/2024 09:51 | KRG are willing to renegotiate contracts on behalf of Bagdad but won't let Baghdad see the contents? A lot of fuss of a seemingly small administrative difference.I suppose who holds the contracts would be the ultimate payer to GKP. Why is it more important to the KRG for payment to flow from Baghdad to Erbil then IOCs? | adamrugen1066

20/5/2024 09:44 | Redbed, why would they cancel buyback shares if afraid of hostile. Would it not be more advantageous to hold more votable shares. | hydrocarbon1

20/5/2024 09:40 | There has been little reporting on the budget amendment. So we don't really know whether it is $8 or not. Seems odd but could it be that they're thinking of $8 plus a share of the profits? | eddie47

20/5/2024 09:25 | So a $18 deficit on anything happening!! Ain't going to happen in a month of Sundays. Roll on independence only 16 months to go and that will fly by. KRG will just go back to their old ways as well. | diamondandpearls

20/5/2024 08:48 | From Lse Rudaw has reported on this but no mention of ‘stall’ hxxps://www.rudaw.ne The budget has allocated $8 for the wages of the oil companies operating in the Kurdistan Region, but the contracts with the companies have been signed at $26 in the Kurdistan Region," he said. "The Kurdistan Regional Government has agreed to review the contracts, but the companies are not willing to work less. In order to solve this problem, we need to amend the budget law or amend the contracts of the companies," he said. What is truly bizarre is that he’s guaranteeing that employees salaries will continue to be paid. How can he guarantee this if Erbil are not handing over the oil and non oil revenue? This will be music to the ears of Barzani as he can carry on trucking and pocketing the money. I don’t believe Sudani is that stupid so something is afoot. This could be Sudani and Barzani trying to force the IOCs to some sort of a compromise. | beernut1

20/5/2024 07:58 | I get taxed on dividends but not on growth. #TeamBuyBack | ptmorris1
20/5/2024 07:55 | I like to think that all the shares I hold are undervalued; I would not hold them otherwise. (Of course, the respective company managers agree with me; they would —wouldn't they?) I also like dividends — not least, so that I can invest them as I please. While that might be in the company issuing the dividend, it could well be in another company. Even if I believed the issuing company to offer the best value at present, I wouldn't necessarily want my investment funds to flow to it: diversification to reduce risk is also important. Such decisions relate to my own position, and I prefer to make them myself rather than let company managers make them for me. For this reason, I prefer dividends to buybacks. Although the above is written in the first person, because I don't want to presume on others who may think differently, it is based on what I believe to be common sense and undisputed observation. | meanreverter

20/5/2024 06:10 | From Lse RE: Big weekend in Iraq19 May 2024 17:23 Good news, they’ve managed to finalise draft budget bill and send it to parliament without a brawl. 👏 👏 👏 “Last week, a delegation from the Kurdistan Region attended meetings of the committee responsible for budget amendments. After their return, they said in a statement that the details will be amended in such a way that the rights of the Kurdistan Region are protected.” Question is are the rights of the IOCs protected as well? hxxps://www.rudaw.ne | beernut1
20/5/2024 05:26 | Kurdistan Watch@KurdistanWatch Iranian President Raisi, who appears to have likely died in a helicopter crash, although this has not been officially confirmed, was set to be the first Iranian president ever to visit Erbil after his Baghdad trip within the coming 2-3 weeks. He was an extreme hardliner so maybe things will change now. | highlander7 |
