Its all been about the MNR. They've made sure shareholders wouldn't profit from their oil whilst doing well themselves and will continue to do so, imo.

So latest wood Mackenzie work suggests that 90% industry operators apply
a 10% discount rate when assessing investment projects

Just shy $1.4bn

So interesting that even applying 20% gkp Nov pushes $600m

And that's base case initial fdp

Chinese oil demand will peak in 2035 Shaikan then might be pumping 400 k blls day , by then the Permian will be on line too .The following was written in 2012 when POO was much higher.The only reason the Yanks are gojng for shale is that they know it will be required and profitable one day as POO has to go up.



Some will point to vast deposits of so-called oil shale in the American West and suggest that production from these can fill the gap in the coming years. But right now commercial production of oil from this source is exactly zero. And, current reserves are also exactly zero since reserves are defined as those underground resources that can be produced profitably at today's prices from known fields using existing technology. The net entitlement barrels to Gkp is 161m minus the capacity tax of 30%.So about 115m barrels, any upside is heavily dependent on oil price above at least $60 in the medium term. That will only happen if OPEC cut production.
