Some are predicting shorting after consolidation.

Why? How? I don't get it. Could someone explain.

The lenders who were shorting now own the company. They were getting hefty interest payments, now they get zilch like the rest of us. The only way they can now make money is a T/O at a premium or a rising share price or eventually a dividend. Will they lend out their shares to short down their own asset? Why? They would get a small premium for lending out shares, but see the value of the shares fall on their balance sheet. They would have to know that the shares would rise eventually to a higher value. We think they will, but it's not guaranteed. They now own a company with a weak incompetent self-serving management, selling to a sole corrupt customer who dislikes paying, in a part of the world which could see a civil war after the fall of Mosul.

I know I'm thick, but I still don't get it.

Another thing I don't get is the assumption that the major players will automatically vote for the nonsense proposed by the BOD. The company might like to erect barriers to a take over, so that GKP becomes a boring gravy train for its CEO et al, but if I owned a big chunk of shares I think I would want the barriers down, not up.

Very perplexing to my old brain.
