If it goes beyond that, then I imagine the BoD are also aware.

Just a hypothetical, but if you knew something about past GKP goings-on and had evidence that's watertight enough to have a material effect on the ability of the company to continue as a going concern, then you would have to consider two groups: current underwater shareholders and past shareholders who have already chosen or been forced to crystallise a loss.

To say nothing would be complicit. It would be denying the people who've already made a loss any opportunity to pursue the wrong-doers while the company is solvent-ish. It also leaves the door open for naïve people to put fresh money in. To say something would seal the fate of the current shareholders, some of whom may be underwater. It's a Catch-22.

Who wants to play God?

To some extent I hope it is just Trench warfare.

Mr Roper, absolutely but it will take a lot to finance such a project. But there again certain info could be leaked to interested newspapers which would have to be picked up by the authorities, so all hope is not lost. Unlike value here.
