11/1/2018 12:49 | I agree the growth in imports should lead to the granting of a licence to increase local production, but what about this: DEMAND: China accounts for nearly half of global zinc demand. The country's war on smog cut local output of zinc last year and is expected to cut supplies again this year. Is the smog problem taking precedence over a current account imbalance issue? The Chinese authorities can be very dogmatic about a policy once they put it in place. They won't easily lose their face and change just because external influences have shifted. I wonder if this is the reason behind the licence delay | makinbuks
11/1/2018 10:19 | Could be off on the next leg up imo | mad foetus
11/1/2018 08:27 | apeman Like this bit in particular " China's total imports of zinc ore and concentrate jumped more than 26% for January to July compared with the same period in 2016, while the country's domestic mine production fell. Since about half of zinc's end-use is accounted for by galvanizing, the report points out that ongoing strength in China's steel production has also underpinned the market. As daily crude steel output rates remain near record levels, domestic steel rebar prices surged in 2017 and achieved four-and-a-half-year highs in early September 2017." and this from Kitco "IMPORTS: China's zinc imports jumped to above 573,000 tonnes in the first 11 months of last year, up 43 percent from the same period of the previous year. STOCKS: Shortages have led to a drawdown of inventories in LME-approved warehouses , which at 180,250 tonnes are down more than 30 percent since last October. Stocks in warehouses monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange at 77,383 tonnes are down 60 percent since March last year." Hope this augurs well for licence approval | phillis
11/1/2018 00:28 | Zinc up today | malcolmmm
10/1/2018 22:07 | With a forward pe of 5.5 at today's shr price by my calculations, this will look very undervalued come the full year results in 2.5months However, reading between the lines, I believe the coming zinc squeeze will be much more powerful thsn the experts are currently predicting, how often do we see them continually revise up their estimates, and will be around the time of the results. Professionals are already writing options on $4,500 zinc | return_of_the_apeman
10/1/2018 21:22 | Forecasting at least 2 glory year's for GFM While zinc prices averaged US$1.31/lb for 2017 as a whole, we expect them to average above US$1.46/lb in 2018 and perhaps US$1.41/lb in 2019,” says S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Metals & Mining team. | return_of_the_apeman
10/1/2018 20:36 | if paying off the loan is any kind of update its positive just watched interview where they said current stocks of silver are enough for a year current stock of zinc enough for a few weeks that is why the cost of refining has dropped so much the refiners are struggling to source it | trawl
10/1/2018 18:43 | Lol, yeah they stopped for the last 5 years, but the last 12 months they have given a few snippets out in addition to the half yearly results.I hope paying off the bank loan is not a disguised trading update. Hoping for one within the next week. | owenga
