The GTE Company Report at Link 1 is dated 6th July, 2010 has been mentioned before on this BB. The document refers to two interesting comments copied below at Extract 1 and Extract 2.

The News Release at Link 2 is dated today (10th December, 2010) and refers to John Wood Group being "awarded a five-year gas turbine Term Maintenance Agreement by Stadtwerke München (SWM), Germany's largest municipal company supplying gas and electricity to more than one million customers in the Munich area."

Whilst there is no relationship between Wood Group and GTE, (as far as I am aware and after an hour's unsuccessful searching on Google), the Wood Group award does appear to suggest that the Business Model adopted by GTE in respect of Energy Services may offer considerable potential.

"Gas Turbine Efficiency Launches Outage Management Services Group"

Extract 2 from the GTE Company Report at Link 1

"OPPORTUNITY WITHIN LARGE OEMS
The large energy generating OEMs represent another opportunity for the group, he continues. "They have traditionally done their own engine servicing but are moving towards an outsourcing option - especially when they see the cost savings." There is massive potential in power generation with the pressure to retrofit low NOx technology into power stations, rather like the catalytic convertor on a car, he says."

customers in the Munich area.

The contract covers maintenance of SWM's two General Electric Frame 9E
gas turbines, and includes local contract management support from the Wood
Group GTS facility in Germany, field service, parts repair and supply of new
capital and consumable parts for planned and unplanned maintenance
outages. The new capital parts to be supplied will include Wood Group GTSmanufactured APM® parts.

This taken from a recent RNS

"Separately, the Company is continuing discussions to sell substantially all of the assets of its aviation business and is exploring other long term financing alternatives involving existing investors, alongside third party alternatives."

WE COULD SEE SOME NICE FIREWORKS SOON!

Are you serious, empirestate, or am I missing something ? I am afraid that I cannot see any reason for "excitement" here. I only wish there were to break the monotony. So still continuing to wait and hope, like Micawber, for something, preferably good, to turn up at last !

Interesting, article about GTE from The Telegraph, dated 20 Sep 2008.

At that time GTE Market Capitalisation was £21m.

Today at S.P. 2.75p the Company Market Cap is £2.81m - all really a bit sad.

It makes sense to split the business.

Industrial "strategic investors" involved in / serving the aviation sector may not be interested in the Energy Services division - and vice versa.

It may be the case that 1 + 1 = 2+.

Alternatively another entity may identify synergies and be prompted to initiate corporate action prior to the divestment.

All speculation for discussion only - DYOR

6kenny - get your facts right.from the last interim results:

Current Trading

•Current year revenue and order backlog up 5% to $33.8m as at 1 September 2010 (2009: $32.1m)

-Energy Services revenue and order backlog up 7% to $28.8m (2009: $27.0m)

-Aviation revenue and order backlog reduced by 2% to $5.0m (2009: $5.1m)

•Full year Group revenue now expected to be approximately 15% ahead of 2009, against a very challenging marketplace and economy

The aviation part of the business isn't GTE's core business with regard to earnings.

Tullynessle - Thanks for the links even if some don't appreciate your efforts. It is reassuring that GTE's partners are still winning contracts especially as this is the part of the business that GTE is trying to sell in order to reduce debts.

TMM

Not everything was on the GTE website - that was why I started researching further.

After finding the recent EcoPower Agreements I decided to delve further into the history of the cleaning system and its appplications & commercial opportunity.

I do understand that I may have over-posted.

However IMO the information is interesting and provides an insight into the breadth and depth of the Company's services - perhaps sufficiently for more discussion on the BB.
