What the figure were better five years ago seeing that they were heavily pumped up!

Punters had better beware of any figures this company puts out!

Market makers generally do not care about the underlying stock when they are making a market.

They simply care about the point of maximum two way trading, as this generates the most revenue for them, off the spread.

As soon as one market maker has acquired enough stock, they will move off the bid and position lower, which exposes the next best bid, in other words the price appears to be marked down.

The market makers quite often end up selling stock back at a higher price to the same punters that sold it too them earlier for much less.

Some market makers will run a short position in a stock (spreadbet probably) which has been run up, to hedge the book, when they have to start buying stock from profit takers and panicky holders, when a stock starts to pull back.

They have many tools to deploy to profit at the expense of some PI's.

The only way to play the market makers at their own game is to buy and stay long, when they are marking a stock down to drive out weaker holders, then sell into any decent rise they create, whether it be volume/news driven or manufactured by them.

It is nice that you are trying to research the company but perhaps you could have picked something a bit more recent than five years ago.

dinky00 - you are so right. Small caps seem to be a deserted area but they do appear to offer opportunities. GDP is a great little company that has been serious;y turned around. Offers great upside potential once the numbers are fully on the table. Cost averaging on a regular basis seems like a good idea?

Yeah, I continue to add. This stock is the wrong side of 20p for me. I've had a life-long hatred of the market makers, they buy £3000 worth of stock, call the price down and knock £500,000 off the market cap with the push of a button. Quiet markets are a great opportunity for the mkt makers to call the price down on nothing and get loose holders questioning if something sinister is going on with the company, encouraging people to sell and ask questions later. The reality is that the mkt makers (who have the biggest influence on the short term share price) couldn't even tell you what industry Goldplat are in.......

Share price 26% off the highs in the space of 4 months or so. Gold price been solid, and updates been excellent. Small caps would drive you insane at time.

Should be an update next week, not certain what will be in it.

I suspect that financial information will be fairly general. Perhaps along the lines of operating profit meeting or being ahead of market expectations. Expectations are for operating profit of £2m. As it was £1m in the first half this shouldn't be too difficult.

We should be getting the production numbers which I think will be overall around 40kozs, which is a bit up on last year.

I am not too bothered about last year in terms of profitability or output. We know that Kili will have lost money and the Q3 figures didn't look that great.

IMV the important thing is to meet expectations going into next year. Ghana needs to be producing at 3kozs a quarter. This means getting the material in, and possibly building a stockpile.

The next thing is getting the Ghana elution column built on target. They have only just stated so probably not too much on that, but I reckon it will be completed end October.

Then there is confirmation of commissioning of the crusher at Kili, and hopefully also confirmation of ore production levels which would justify stage 3.

Then there are some background things we may get updated, for example the stock dam, PGMs or even RR.

Anyway I expect to find out next week.

Good observations thank you. Although I would rather see GDP continue to plough back all profits and have a reserve for the inevitable opportunities that will arise as other juniors feel the pinch.

But that said, either way were are on a roll, but it would be simply great to break the 20p barrier as from then on it should be a steady push for a £1 PER SHARE.

and...

Could not resist a top on the fall, 250000 @12.9

...........
No wonder rodson/miller is bitter as hell over this stock, especially as he has called it so wrong. If he held as much as he did, at the high prices he allegedly paid, then he lost a packet here.

He probably held much less, if any, still lost and hasn't moved on yet.

after that purchase claim, rodson/miller went onto make claims of purchases at 15.65p and then 16.49p.
16.49p was the all time high, the stock then began its 3 year, inexorable decline to 1.5p on the bid.

Rodson/miller got absolutely rinsed on this and is still crying over it. No wonder we have to endure his endless crying, wailing and gnashing of teeth, whilst blaming everyone else, apart from himself over his monumental losses, incorrect calls and general stupidity.

You can't expect anymore than a good call.

Dan has been making good calls here for years while you and the other RAMPERS have had your heads in the clouds when not up other RAMPERS' backsides.

What did Dano call before he went......5p, and just one more click down and its there. You on the other hand were calling for 10p

Gerard said in an interview last November;

There was a capital raise when the company initially floated, and that was primarily for Kilimapesa and the drilling there. But really its been internally funded. The thing has been built up over the years through internal profits. We have not been to the market for more than a decade and we have self generated all our funds to self fund our projects and maintenance.

That is not to say that we would not tap the capital markets if they were favourable because we want to go into a growth phase now. We are very stable. We are cash flow positive and we hae got a good business going now and its a good time to grow it and we are going to need to raise some capital for that in time.

Our internal feeling is that we won't raise equity at the present sort of levels. We feel we won't want to raise equity capital till we are back at 10p or more. At the moment we are looking at debt capital.

My view is that the specified investments (ie, Kili 3, 2 elution columns, stock dam etc) can probably be done from cash flow in the next 12 -18 months.

Unless they have something else planned, which they may well have, then I don't think a capital raise will be needed.

We will no doubt find out more at the op update next week.

On the RAMPERS's BB they are already praying that if there is a cash call the board will make better use of it than the last ones made..........do not have an encouraging feel to it does it?

Best stay clear of this one at least 'till they have some kind of vision as to what they are doing!
