18/8/2023 11:29 | another way to look at it is that there is no downside on the shareprice here, anyone selling now will regret it in the coming months | dinky00
18/8/2023 11:28 | Werner sounded very upbeat, my takeaway from the meeting is 1) Just after a tough 6 months and still generated cash, the business is incredibly resilient 2) Company is very well placed going forward 3) Directors will focus on running the business and the share price, while admittedly low, will need to sort itself out point 3 was my biggest disappointment, history tells us that GDP simply doesn't have enough of a following to drive the share price to where it should be. It needs buybacks, dividends - or perhaps a takeover. At these levels, with the prospects that the board are so excited about, surely investing in the actual shares of the company represents one of the best ways for the board to generate value. | dinky00
18/8/2023 09:06 | haha, 7 years and counting - we have come a LONG way since the dog days of GKG (now binned off Kili board again) and 2.5p share price - Werner has lined up most of the ducks, just water licence to go, then we see profit potential of TSF, which we know will shock the mkt. | shill10
16/8/2023 21:36 | Well firstly they do have debt. It was about £1.8m to Nedbank for the South African shares. They are repaying about £1m this year IIRC. Then there is the £750k for the generators. I think they are paying a couple of percent over SA prime so that will be about 14% and £100k out of profit. Then there is the pre-financing which always seems to come to a handy bill. The argument for GDP is simple. The heap of gold they have is worth more than the company and is not in the valuation, IMV. It is just an unearthly amount of time to get it realised. Is it the 10 year anniversary since the Jorc? | kimboy2
16/8/2023 20:48 | LT - With financial markets as they are loading up on debt when it isn’t required maybe a less attractive option than in years gone by. I’m invested in companies that used much larger amounts of cash than £2m for buy backs and a) it had no obvious impact on the share price and b) they were screwed when things turned & cash started to run dry. Whilst I see your side of the argument I don’t see it as obviously the correct de union to go one way or the other. If the company rewards the patient later I think it will do wonders for the share price and LTH’s, but I accept that is being reliant on the board to change their approach when cash flows really improve. | lloydypool
16/8/2023 16:14 | I agree Lloyd, the key is the TSF, there are questions in for the presentation, lets see what is said but they are inching closer to getting this out there which will be transformative. | shill10
16/8/2023 15:56 | Lloydpool, they have zero debt and £2m in the bank. Even with the recent problems, they are cash positive. Investments can justify borrowing but they would rather use shareholder funds than go to the bank. | lowtrawler
16/8/2023 15:25 | I think they have fairly solid reasons for not continuing by backs/starting divi's for a little while longer (investing in the generators/TSF and the now resolved issue with Ghana). They are getting much closer to running our of those excuses so if all goes how it should over the next 6 months or so then there must be a dividend AND buy backs during 2024. It may not happen but I'm happy to wait and see as the share price is reflecting the risk that shareholders continue to not be rewarded. | lloydypool
16/8/2023 14:51 | dinky00, fundamentally, this is run as you would expect a private business to be run - for the benefit of the directors, management, staff, friends and family. They show no interest in rewarding shareholders and profits / cash will be used for whatever project they currently take an interest in. Martin Ooi had been the big hope. A major shareholder able to direct profits towards shareholders and with a Board remit to improve shareholder value. Last year's share buybacks appeared to indicate this was working. We have seen nothing since. Until there is evidence of Shareholders being the primary focus of attention, I don't believe GDP is investible. | lowtrawler
16/8/2023 13:44 | They said they will exceed mkt expectations and the start of the new financial year will be strong due to backlog of sales.Share price drops and volume is non existent. The biggest issue for shareholders here is undoubtedly the lack of interest. Trade volume has absolutely died a death. Initiating share buybacks - no matter how small - would fix this. The board of management could not make it any clearer that they dont care about the share price or the share price prospects. No directors buying and no funds allocated to buybacks. And what is Martin Ooi up to? | dinky00
15/8/2023 23:35 | WHI View: Electrical supply issues had a significant impact on the South African operations, during the reporting period around 25% of potential operating days were lost due to these issues. Once the independent power supply is up and running, we anticipate a significant improvement in operational performance and revenues. Having secured export licences and commenced sales of material produced in Ghana towards the end of the reporting period, we expect sales volumes in the next reporting period (Q1 2024) to be significantly ahead of normal levels as inventories accumulated during Q3 and Q4 2023 are sold down. Doesn't really tell us anything that wasn't in the RNS. The only question for me is when can we start shipping this stuff to DRD, and how much are we going to make out of it. This RNS didn't provide and answer so we shall see if the presentation will. I have the question in. | kimboy2

15/8/2023 08:54 | I think there maybe enough good stuff in there to eventually get someone to buy a share or two!! The bad bits aren’t unexpected but perhaps it’s going to take a little bit longer before really positive news flow. Two or three catalysts there though in sight, generators solving grid issues, TSF progress & inventory to sell … hopefully gold price helps out too. | lloydypool
15/8/2023 08:12 | Thought it was maybe in auction, but now just looks like no one is interested. | arlington chetwynd talbott
15/8/2023 07:27 | Bit of a mixed bag, but could have been worse - completion of TSF construction makes it a positive RNS on balance. | arlington chetwynd talbott
14/8/2023 15:35 | Am disappointed and surprised that after Friday's steep drop in price, there was not a bounce in price today. There should be news in the nearish future: *4th quarter update *annual accounts - hopefully not like last year's shambles as regarding promptness *news on the TSF - I think it has aprobably been delayed by govv't tardiness. I check for a RNS every day in hope and not in expectation!! , | camerongd53
