Plus, the gold price going vertical is likely to drive further buying this afternoon.

disappointing that TSF delayed, but that's Africa for you - positives are DRD involved for sure and that now we know the name hopefully contract agreement will be soon - this is the key for the share price for me, not the actual start date for the TSF as it will reveal how dwarfed the current market cap is c w the TSF value....

I sort of agree on the question of communications, but not completely. GDP is negotiating contracts constantly and I am certain if they revealed too much this would be used as a bargaining chip by their suppliers.

What I would point to is something like the stopping of the buy back. Werner has hinted that it is still being considered, but no explanation as to why it was stopped.

Most of these deals that look like sells are all buys

As a relatively new investor here, who is not intending to sell:
- its disappointing that GDP are not considerably clearer in their communication, e.g. the sudden appearance of pre-financing today, and the many interviews with Werner which could be considerably clearer
- this opaqueness is IMHO unhelpful to the SP, so an own goal from the company, albeit it does enable investors to buy at a lower share price than should probably be the case
- there's a fair bit to like here even if its difficult to work out exactly what
- I would not expect the company to announce a dividend in a "1st Quarter Results" RNS, which does not provide a P/L number.

Steady progress but did not include any knockout information to justify the share price spike. I think the market expected more TSF details or a dividend proposal. With 3m in the bank, generating over 1m per quarter and having 12 months capex of less than 2m, there is no excuse to not announce a dividend.

The numbers may be something like;

Q1/22 Q2/22 Q3/22 Q4/22 Total Q1/23Op Pr SA 0.564 1.344 1.627 1.254 4.789 0.976Op Pr Gh 0.839 1.012 0.659 0.728 3.238 0.966 SA Tax 28% -0.157 -0.376 -0.456 -0.351 -1.34 -0.27SA Non con 9.5% -0.053 -0.092 -0.111 -0.085 -0.341 -0.067Ghana Tax 15% -0.125 -0.152 -0.099 -0.109 -0.485 -0.15 Finance -0.1 -0.1 -0.1 -0.1 -0.4 -0.1 Central costs -0.17 -0.17 -0.17 -0.17 -0.68 -0.17 PAT 0.798 1.466 1.35 1.167 4.781 1.185

A number of pros and cons.

Cons
1. Delay of 6 months in TSF
2. £500k loss on 'pre financing'. I presume this is some sort of hedging which I didn't realise they did and not altogether sure why they do.
3. PGMs still problematic
4. Still problems getting West African states to export gold.
5. Electric supply problems in SA
6. Additional £1.5m of capex over 18 months

Pros
1. Despite all the above very good financial results
2. Long term supply of material from DRD
3. Steady supply of domestic material in Ghana
4. Soth America expansion continuing albeit slowly

Yes, an excellent result, despite some very significant headwinds in the quarter. Just think where they’d be if some of these issues go away.

We get official confirmation that the TSF will be processed by DRD via pipeline. But interestingly, they are now taking material the other way too. Keeping the CIL circuit full for 5-7 years adds a lot of stability to operations and profit going forward.

PGM taking time to get going but then all the profits from this are yet to come. So Q1 should be the low point for FY23 and this has doubled on FY22 (altho helped by FX)

Considering the headwinds they have faced not a bad set of results. Steady progress is always pleasing.

The most encouraging thing with our rise to 12p is the lack of selling interest. There is always a danger holders take profit as the price rises. It is clear that the remaining holders understand the underlying value and are waiting for it to be realised. It means anyone wanting to build a position will push the price up further.

Kimboy, the answer to your question might lie with Yahoo who published a short article/Tip for GDP on Sunday (31 Oct 22) Link below. Might explain some of the current interest. The Webinar in RNS 1 Nov 22 will only add to the enthusiasm.

Didn't like the webhosts claim that GDP was trading at an all time high unless they know something we dont! Has anyone else registered yet?

Remember 100,000 oz of Gold in TSF (gross value c £150 million ) while the market cap of Goldplat is c £20 mill and has recovery ops more than justifying that on p/e <5. Sure there's extraction costs and not 100% will be extracted, but still, don't give your shares away below what they are clearly worth.
