18/11/2011 12:17 | I have contacted GED to request info on sand disposal. | foreverhoping
18/11/2011 12:08 | presentation very encouraging. next couple of months should be exciting with plenty of news hopefully sustaining and increasing the current s/p. £3 being suggested but i'd be happy to get above the £1.3 range for starters Nils, couple of links here: 1. 2. From wikipedia on oil sands section - very basic cut and paste, but interesting on disposal of sand Cold flow Main article: Cold heavy oil production with sand In this technique, also known as cold heavy oil production with sand (CHOPS), the oil is simply pumped out of the sands, often using progressive cavity pumps. This only works well in areas where the oil is fluid enough. It is commonly used in Venezuela (where the extra-heavy oil is at 50 degrees Celsius), and also in the Wabasca, Alberta Oil Sands, the southern part of the Cold Lake, Alberta Oil Sands and the Peace River Oil Sands. It has the advantage of being cheap and the disadvantage that it recovers only 5-6% of the oil in place.[46] Some years ago Canadian oil companies discovered that if they removed the sand filters from the wells and produced as much sand as possible with the oil, production rates improved remarkably. This technique became known as Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand (CHOPS). Further research disclosed that pumping out sand opened "wormholes" in the sand formation which allowed more oil to reach the wellbore. The advantage of this method is better production rates and recovery (around 10%) and the disadvantage that disposing of the produced sand is a problem. A novel way to do this was spreading it on rural roads, which rural governments liked because the oily sand reduced dust and the oil companies did their road maintenance for them. However, governments have become concerned about the large volume and composition of oil spread on roads,[47] so in recent years disposing of oily sand in underground salt caverns has become more common. | foreverhoping
15/11/2011 14:22 | was/is a very good presentation. Anybody any links to CHOPS tech? If the first well comes in as planned then that should help to light the blue touchpaper!! | nils214
14/11/2011 22:00 | Voss states on the webcast they are aiming for production within a month with the new C.H.O.P.S. technology on the Torcaz field in the Middle Magdalena valley . 88% of GED's substansial Proven P2 reserves (124.6mboe) are located in the Middle Magdalena valley . Yet only 6% of their production is from the Middle Magdalena valley . GED has the second largest P2 reserves of any E+P on the AIM market . Clearly an opportunity here for Global to monitise these fields which have stood largely dormant for years . I reckon if this first well comes in as a CHOPS producer the share price is at least going to be underpinned at these levels . The recent move up maybe as a result of promising sounds eminating from S. America . Voss mentions production from the first well could be around 350-450bopd . Not too shabby and the costs of CHOPS means its certainly worth doing :) . Add this speculative potential to the solid cash flow from the other producing assets on the Llanos fields and GED looks to me a worthy gamble . Positive cashflow and balance sheet are fairly unusual for an explorer / producer with such a low Mcap b.w.d.i.k.? . I have held for some time buying at various levels and will continue to hold as both the projects areas are progressing nicely imo. Good luck all holders , dyor . | loafingchard

08/11/2011 08:36 | Just catching up after being away for a few days. Positive news and a good strategy to focus on areas where there is less of a bottleneck in terms of transportation. Also this will help to re-confirm our reserves estimates as I think the whole company value is based basically on the 6% of reserves that are producing oil from the Llanos basin... "As such the Company will continue to maximise production in the Llanos Basin whilst optimising cost margins, which is evident at the Tilodiran field. Currently, approximately 95% of the Company's daily oil production comes out of the Llanos Basin, but only 6% of the Company's 2P oil reserves are located within these contract areas." if we can produce 3000bopd from 6% of reserves, then 94% could potentially be 94/6 x 3000 = 47,000bopd plus the original 3000 = 50,000 bopd. Of course that will take a long time and a lot of cash to get that sort of production, however realistically there should be no reason why we can't add maybe 1-2000 bopd over the next 12 months, taking us closer to 5,000bopd - now how many co.s are valued at 37mln GBP with that sort of production!! We should be seriously north of 200pps imho. | nils214 |
