We are in the phoney war....think 1940 before the blitz.

Soon, the sky will fall in on the market as USA realises covid isn't just for poor asians.

Looking at market behaviour it seems investors are selling GSK and buying into stocks that have fallen big time,is this a good move?

Haha..alphorn.

Please dont conflate a high share price with a societal requirement for good medication.

You want this baby to fly so you can make lots of lolly.

The drugs are an afterthought

z - sometimes it is worth just remembering what Pharma does - if you suffer from a potentially serious illness (eg asthma) then Pharma products have truly changed your life.

I hope that you never get ill.

Interesting to remember that the unprecedented speed in work identifying a vaccine is in large part to early Chinese efforts to sequence the genetic material of Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. China shared that sequence in early January, allowing research groups around the world to grow the live virus and study how it invades human cells and makes people sick.

Research by groups on earlier outbreaks (eg SARS) was shelved when the virus had been contained.
Hopefully news by next month.

From memory GSK traded under 12.70 ish early 2018,
IF there is a plunge low on the cards, that area might be tested imv.

GSK, all things being equal, should significantly outperform cyclicals in a bear market. Luck with your holdings.

Last month I thought we would never return to the fourteen hundreds.

And BP sub £3..almost £2 when they can turn the tap off on cap ex to mitigate low price of oil.

We are in new territory and previous lows will be tested.

Who will buy shingrix for example? Footfall will reduce in USA in the immediate future as resources are diverted to covid

Zic, you optimist, you!.

Unlikely to get near £10 imv. On a bad day and if markets take another plunge,
you might, just might, get under £13.

The powerful stockholders will be giving the company 'guidance' on the dividend question.

The Chairman meets regularly with institutional shareholders to hear their views and discuss issues of mutual importance and communicates their views to the Board.

I am on the sidelines waiting for bargains.

You guys appear to be cheerleaders for a financial model.which is inappropriate in times of crisis ie the sudden dislocation of the world economy.

GSK sales will fall very heavily and the dividend will be suspended. Tge share price will probably fall, mostly because dividend seekers are dismayed.

Why does this make me a plonker?

Probably because you suspect this to be the case but cannot crystallise your loss.

Even the tobacco companies will reduce payments, if only to be politic.

Tim, even for some companies that can pay, I think they are mainly deferring to
the ... national emergency line and suspending the payout.

Let's visit sub £10 before then.

The balance sheet has been weakened by the dividend policy and will need to recover.

The price paid will be the disloyalty to the dividend seekers.

Pain will be greatest when USA gets really hit hard with cases.
