It must be wonderful to see the future with such certainty. You must win the lottery every week, eh.

GlaxoSmithKline's HIV treatments division has received approval for its long-acting HIV injection from Canada's healthcare regulator, in a major win for the British drugmaker after a U.S. rejection late last year. GSK's ViiV Healthcare said on Friday that Health Canada had given the green light to Cabenuva, a monthly injection to suppress the virus that causes AIDS and is aimed as an alternative to daily pills.

Everyone will have caught this eventually, you cant eradicate it, thats a “ pandemic “. For 99 per cent of people it wont cause issues, Italians said 99 per cent of deaths were in people with pre existing conditions. Well, most illnesses hit those people hardest, from normal flu to any infection. Would be better off living as normal and just letting it pass through the system, which is in reality exactly what will happen. Im in Spain at mo and they say there is a lockdown, well everyone is still out at night, Its impossible to lock down a free society, to stop people going to work etc, in the USA people wont stay in, its daft. I know the great unwashed love a drama but is it worth bankrupting every country and future generations for something is the same as normal flu basically. I would think poverty kills alot more than this will, maybe thats where the money should go.....

I was just thinking yesterday it's one of the most marked periods of disparity in performance between the respective companies.

AZ currently 6% off its year high, GSK 21%.. the mooted Pfizer takeover was probably the best thing to happen to AZ as it forced them to raise their game in a do or die situation. Can GSK do the same I wonder..

Thanks TM I think we both have a point,on the other hand IMO reinvesting the forthcoming dividend may not be a good idea, hopefully we get it intact, save it until all is clear, thanks again :-))

abdullla: GSK have the adjuvant technology which is worth a lot of money in any vaccine that becomes developed (An adjuvant is an ingredient used in some vaccines that helps create a stronger immune response in people receiving the vaccine. ... Adjuvants help the body to produce an immune response strong enough to protect the person from the disease he or she is being vaccinated against.)

It could cost GSK billions to fully develop a Coronavirus vaccine which they cant afford hence they have decided not to take this path but let the big boys with deep pockets burn the money instead.

Roche on the case: Roche has now announced the initiation of a Phase III clinical trial of Actemra/RoActemra (tocilizumab) in hospitalised patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia. The pharma giant says that it is working with the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to initiate the randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the drug in combo with standard of care. This is the first global study of Actemra/RoActemra in this setting and is expected to begin enrolling as soon as possible in early April with a target of approximately 330 patients globally, including the US. Roche has confirmed that primary and secondary endpoints include clinical status, mortality, mechanical ventilation and intensive care unit (ICU) variables. Note: a PIII trial.
