Status of COVID-19
As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.

The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to

Timelines more realistic if all goes well:
"The Trump Administration signed a contract with Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceutical branch. J&J will get $450 million from the government and, combined with its own funding, $1 billion will go to the vaccine development.
Already, Moderna has begun trials for its COVI-19 vaccine, but Johnson & Johnson said its own human trials will start by September. It anticipates making one billion doses of the experimental vaccine by 'early 2021,' despite the fact it's only just announced a lead candidate vaccine".

Looking at market behaviour it seems investors are selling GSK and buying into stocks that have fallen big time,is this a good move?

Haha..alphorn.

Please dont conflate a high share price with a societal requirement for good medication.

You want this baby to fly so you can make lots of lolly.

The drugs are an afterthought

z - sometimes it is worth just remembering what Pharma does - if you suffer from a potentially serious illness (eg asthma) then Pharma products have truly changed your life.

I hope that you never get ill.

Interesting to remember that the unprecedented speed in work identifying a vaccine is in large part to early Chinese efforts to sequence the genetic material of Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. China shared that sequence in early January, allowing research groups around the world to grow the live virus and study how it invades human cells and makes people sick.

Research by groups on earlier outbreaks (eg SARS) was shelved when the virus had been contained.
Hopefully news by next month.

From memory GSK traded under 12.70 ish early 2018,
IF there is a plunge low on the cards, that area might be tested imv.

GSK, all things being equal, should significantly outperform cyclicals in a bear market. Luck with your holdings.
