Australia's proposed 40 per cent super tax on mining profits does not apply to GIP, the tax only applies to mining projects in Australia, i.e. its not a tax on Australian Mining companies its a tax on Australian mining projects ... GIP is an Australian mining company but its project is in Egypt and therefore GIP would not be caught out by the new tax ...

The panic over the Aussie mining tax has gone just a tad to far when 25% of GIP
value is wiped out,is this in the vain hope that one day they might make a profit,
forward thinking eh, can't fool those Aussie's

Good points Van B.----------- I just hope you are wrong about Starck-
But there is something stalling Jack's progress, that's for sure.

What we need to know is why Telford keeps hammering on the Congo
Cabot's and the NGO's views are political 'liberal'
I doubt that's the viewpoint of the funds behind HC Starck
Don't forget HC Starck had/has a (strong) presence/knowledge in the area
Germans digitalized the Congolese Cadastre Minier, so they must be aware of the vast potential of the area, moreover not all the coltan is coming from war area's

HC Starck is keeping GIP hostage, that's the problem
Only if something at Capitol Hill...

GIP--

F--k the bloody Congo.....!

What we need to know is -

The design of the Egyptian mine, scheduled for this year:-

Is this [a] on the drawing board ,
[b] near to being finalised
[c] even started yet?

Surely this information is not classified ....and could be released to us long suffering PIs..

Boo Hoo ,Sob sob !

Pricing published is on basis of 30% Ta2O5 delivered CIF
and max 0.5% U3O8 and ThO2 combined

Please note one of above graphics mentions prices in kg not pounds

And as Tantalum bearing materials are not traded on the LME...

the best news in JT's statement is the recent rise in the price of tantalum from $35 to $52.
I cannot reconcile these figures with the graph above. Would some kind person please explain the apparent discrepancy to me ?

All this interest in the Congo? Is he stuck in the NGO-polarisation game or just smart. I would appreciate it if he could set up something like an exploration company just around there.

Nice of Jack to keep us informed of the goings on in the Congo, any hope do you think of him letting us know about the goings on in Egypt?

GIP - So ,we are back round in a circle renegotiating an off -take agreement, for a product that has not been mined, from a mine that hasn't yet been designed, let alone been opened !

After how many years ?

Quite frankly,I've lost count...

everybody seems to have missed the significance of my post ...

"H.C. Starck will quickly pass on the increase in raw material prices to the end markets and secure supplies."

in other words HC stark are probably now ready to renegotiate the offtake agreement with GIP

What on earth pray,is the holdup now?

I think it's jolly fine practice to keep us informed about the goings on in DRC,
but also any news, that may actualy make some differance to the pathetic share price, and lack of progress of any kind at GIP would also be appreciated.

From HC Stark website (dated 25.02.2010) ...

"H.C. Starck reacts to reversal of price trends in raw materials

The tantalum market is currently driven by end industries' demand for ethically irreproachable material. It has therefore come to a shift in raw material procurement from the Congo regions hit by conflict to other suppliers, which will also lead to price increases.

In line with this trend, H.C. Starck will quickly pass on the increase in raw material prices to the end markets and secure supplies."

Also ...

"Statement of the company on the sourcing of metallic raw materials

No use of tantalous raw materials from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)"

GIP All the indications are that GIP's tantalum deposit in Abu is becoming more and more attractive .
Ta price rising and another possible competitor announcing really non- viable deposits , and yet despite not one contra event affecting GIP in years ,the drip ,drip, sells of small shareholdings continue to depress the share price .

The 'cards close to the chest' tactic that Jack has always adopted is wearing a little thin now .

We need some news of progress on actually getting the act together to design the mine .

I have taken out the AIM charts & news - as they are no longer relevant and have added a Ta chart which is!

Sorry about the chart size but I have no control of that.

I have added a 'skip header' control to save scrolling.

In my mailbox this morning, Nb - Ta deposits come cheap these days I suppose:

ANNOUNCEMENT 17 MARCH 2010

RAM TO ACQUIRE MOTZFELDT PROJECT IN SOUTHERN GREENLAND

Exploration Target based on a GEUS estimate of 200-500 million tonnes at an average grade of 1000-1,400 ppm Nb and 100-120 ppm Ta with potential to outline internal higher-grade zones at Anomaly 4 and 5.

Diamond drilling on Anomaly 4 returned Ta and Nb from surface, with best results of 630 ppm Ta205 from 18 metres and 7,800 ppm Nb2O5 from 28 metres.

Aggressive first year exploration programme planned, with Ram intending to drill existing targets in the 2010 field season
