22/11/2009 01:40 | SC, No, but I might decide to get some NVTA at some point - they are not mutually exclusive! I hold loads of different stocks in similar areas of supply. If something is under-valued and looks likely to revalue - I buy it. Simple as that. Not fully convinced by the drastic changes at NVTA but it is certainly looking a bit more positive there than it used to. | chipperfrd
21/11/2009 20:22 | Chip- You'll be selling your GIP holdoing to invest in NVTA on Monday , I presume then.Eh? -SC | shadowchaser
21/11/2009 14:00 | leapinn, I have to say that your question has prompted me to re-assess the future of NVTA. They have had wholesale changes this year - replaced all directors, replaced auditors, replaced NOMAD & main broker, moved headquarters, Dr Martin (ex manager of HC Starck's Goslar) has joined board, raised cash and diluted equity from c. 44m to current 233m shares. The question now is "can they turn the Marropina operation around"? Even though c. $65m has already been spent on the operation it looks like they are doing a 'bottom up' re-appraisal of the entire operation. They are suggesting a re-start in March-April 2010 and (interestingly) are looking into a listing on the TSX - does this indicate a possible closer relationship with Cabot I wonder! Bit of a gamble but they do have the advantage of being able to re-start at short notice and Ta prices do look set to rise pretty soon. In comparison with GIP, their MC per lb Ta is c. £4.65 (Marropina indicated only) whereas GIP are at only c. £1.66/lb (Abu Dabbab, M&I only) using current GIP price on ASX. But GIP will take around 2 years to get into production assuming we FINALLY get movement from HC Starck and the German banks. So perhaps there is a short-term opportunity at Noventa! I think I will pay close attention to events there over the next few months. Thanks for bringing it up. Chip | chipperfrd
21/11/2009 13:30 | cheers - I'll try and find them. | leapinn
21/11/2009 11:29 | Leapin-This is irrelevant and probably highly unlikely to happen- I suggest you read earlier posts on this thread. -SC | shadowchaser
20/11/2009 16:10 | Hi - do any of you tantalum experts have a view on NVTA - reopening a tantalum mine in Mozambigue in Mar/Apr 2010 ? | leapinn
20/11/2009 15:05 | Not long now to break even ,Joan! Steady small increments until the big news breaks will suit me just fine [and you too ,I presume,, after such a long wait!] Despite my upbeat tone ,I would point out that it will be at least 2 years before the mine will be required or in practise be opened and this time scale is to coincide with the expected supply squeeze on the world market for the rare Tantalum metal. Just what may happen in those two years is of course open to conjecture ! That is the essence of the play in which we are engaged . -SC | shadowchaser
20/11/2009 10:34 | Talking of die-hards I am within a whisker of having held these for 5 years. I will break even when they are 7.75c on the bid. | joan of arc
19/11/2009 14:20 | Gip --JOA-- Jack's plan for 2010 ie progress on the design and construction of the mining infrastructure must mean thatthe FINANCING is imminent.Imo But ,wehave had so many false dawns that no one of the Old Crew on board the good-ship''Gippsland At least at the current share price with judicious timing I have [for one ]at present broken even,on paper,as regards monies invested in this speculative venture . I sincerely hope this is true for others ''keeping the faith''. -SC | shadowchaser
19/11/2009 13:58 | amen to that!! | chipperfrd
19/11/2009 13:54 | Future events I am looking for that should give the share price a boost are ... Due diligence finally completed New offtake agreement agreed with HC Stark (to include Syncon) or somebody else And finally financing It would be nice if we could put an end to the never ending cycle of due diligence in 2009 :-) | marksnsparkle
19/11/2009 13:48 | Hi JoA, Still very much here ... just waiting for news that will have a direct bearing on the future of GIP. The 7.3c close in Oz puts the shares on c. 4.02p in Sterling terms ... so it has been a significant improvement from the lows and especially from the Rights price. So good news for us die-hards but still largely based on the potential for AD rather than from any more tangible forward move in the company's prospects IMO. So it is, perhaps, difficult to find meaningful topics to discuss whilst we remain in this news hiatus. But from my point of view, I remain positive about the long-term outcome and await what I believe will be an inevitable funding and start-up at AD. Chip | chipperfrd
19/11/2009 12:22 | Given there is still no sign of finance and no reason to believe that it is on the horizon either the share price seems to have launched itself into the stratosphere. This board seems to have gone strangely silent. I wonder what happened to all our old regular contributors/protago | joan of arc
12/11/2009 21:41 | Thanks for making that a lot clearer mark. When I received the forms in post the instructions were sign and send back. Then I noticed a date of purchase of 6 nov 09 on form(this was date I was buying them from the nominees account in effect) and thought strange since I bought them over 2 years ago.Pleased I checked up on it otherwise would have taken a quite a few pounds outside my isa. Will try to open account with TDW. | petoil
12/11/2009 21:21 | PETOIL ... I think I see what is happening If you fill out the sra23 form in your name you are asking the Australian register to send you a certificate in your name for your GIP share holding ... i.e. your shares will no longer be held in your nominee isa account they will be held as paper certificate in your name that will be sent to your home address ... what you are doing is you are transferring the shares from your broker to yourself, i.e. replacing the name or your broker with your own name on the Australian share registry What you need to do is transfer the shares to TDW, i.e. replace the name of the broker you have now with TDW on the Australian share registry I think it still involves filling out the sra23 form but you put TDW's name on it rather than your own, i.e. TDW gets the certificate in their name not you and then TDW holds that certificate in a nominee ISA account for you Speak to TDW they are aware of the transfer of the GIP registry ... tell them you have gip shares in an ISA account that can't trade Australian shares and that you want to transfer them to a TDW ISA that can trade Australian shares All your really doing is transferring your ISA to another broker, what you don't want to do is transfer the shares to yourself because you don't do isa's :-) | marksnsparkle
12/11/2009 19:50 | Thanks for responding marks. The reason I asked is because I received a form SRA23 and it states my holding now held in aus with 'security transfer registrar'.But my dealer said when I fill in the sra23 form I am transferring my shares out of my nominees isa account.Obviously I dont want to do that.So he suggested moving them to a dealer who deals on asx before I fill in form.I have shares in standard, isa and isa pep so 3 holdings.I think its possible to merge the 2 isa now.I was wondering if anybody had been through the process of transferring gip shares to tdw isa. | petoil
12/11/2009 19:29 | PETOIL ... your shares will already have been transferred to the Australian registrar, GIP did that for you ... you just need to claim them on the Australian registrar What you need to do is transfer that part of your ISA to a ISA with a broker that trades Australian shares TDW does ISA's and it also trades Australian shares so they would be a good choice GIP can still legally be held in an ISA because it trades on a recognised stock exchange, i.e. the ASX Who is your current broker ... I think most brokers by now will be up to speed with GIP because other investors have already sorted there shares out | marksnsparkle
12/11/2009 15:17 | Could anybody tell me if they have managed to transfer gip shares from a dealer who does not deal in asx shares to one who does.I am trying to avoid my shares going outside my isa.Which i believe happens if you transfer to registrar in australia.Anybody managed to trade them electronically with another dealer on asx. Is TDW allowing transfers?.If so any problems. Thanks | petoil
12/11/2009 12:09 | my only question mark is 2010 when? Q1 hopefully :-) | marksnsparkle
12/11/2009 11:57 | According to Jack's plan, both the design and construction of the mining infra-structure are scheduled for 2010 ! -I say you chaps , only 6 weeks away now , FINANCING MUST BE IMMINENT! [Enlighten me --Just where did the last decade go ?] Lol! -SC | shadowchaser
12/11/2009 10:58 | True, although we could even see a completely new set of characters appearing for the next act! | chipperfrd
12/11/2009 09:54 | With KFW only signed up with GIP until the end of the year and given the dates above, its possible that the financing could be agreed this year | marksnsparkle
12/11/2009 09:24 | Indeed ,VERY nice to see Jack has a ''cunning plan '' Let's hope the share price gets into the break out mode from the 6c glass ceiling. -SC | shadowchaser
12/11/2009 08:40 | nice to see some dates being offered up in a official document | marksnsparkle |
