Clearly oil services is a shocking area to be in at the moment but to suggest it's the end for all Oil service companies is tripe.

On a macro scale there is still no reduction in US Oil output (despite a reduction of 60-70% in rig count), eventually US output will reduce and the oil price will recover imo.

The deeper the slump, the sharper the rise will be.

GTC made £2m last year which is approximately £2m more than Pugugly's prediction in Dec.

Considering you were touting this stock a while back RC., you have changed ur tune to suit the current climate, not the mind of an investor that a co. like this needs! Much of the news is baked in, the fact that this co. is supported by strong cash balances are a huge boon, it would be easy for them to cut costs as most of the expense is the workforce, the value is the software for seismic testing, and the database!

The Paris conference on climate change could have a massive effect, as for the first time there appears to be a political will do actually do something.

Am surprised the share price as bounced this am, given the gloomy outlook statement. As Pugugly says the situation is uncertain, and this could be a medium to long-term issue, as there is just too much uncertainty.

I just think this is a sector to avoid right now, why take the risk?

Oil services is grim.

This is the clause doing the damage BUT the BIG question is what could be the outurn - At the moment the situation is so fluid that it is a guess. The board are being honest but (imo) could be facing a multiyear drought.

Worst case scenario is that if global CO2 targets are to be met much of the hydrocarbons already discovered will have to be left in the ground so potentially a very significant cut back in exploration - OK a worst case interpretation but needs to be considered for ALL coys in the sector.

What does substantial fall in profits translate to in terms of EPS for 2016? Anybody know?

The price was already suggesting a big drop in earnings 2015-2016, so will be interesting to see where the gloom bottoms out. Is it good value based on cyclical recovery ? Say a p/e of 10 on earnings of 4p...

Substantial fall in profits for 2015/2016, however good levels of cash to support, clear mark down at open but already factored in to some extent, nonetheless the uncertainty going forward is reflective of this whole sector, not wholly unexpected, a buying opportunity or a top up, this is still a well-managed co.!

W H Ireland have revised 2016 profit forecast down by 03m to 2.7m on 30 10 15 as well as the revised lower 2m forecast for 2015. If they do manage the 2.7m in 2016 it will be excellent news in the current Oil and gas climate. i have no position here but would like to buy in at some point as I do believe that this company will most likely be one of the survivers that are still around when the poo improves.

A good time to buy maybe, a wee bit of support coming back here, outlook statement might me soft, but this co. had £4.7mln cash at half year, off course acquisition soaked some of that up and working capital required for projects, however the purchase funded a mixture of share issuance and some medium term debt, but this conow on a very low rating, naturally in the environment it operates in, still the mkt. cap reflects all that, but it has an established mkt, does it deserve to be on a higher level than where it is currently!

The sector is out of favour but I personally see that as a buying opportunity. My friday buy at mid-price showed as a sell.

This co. Behaving like it is under duress, business might be poor, but they paid for ERCL with mainly shares to the founders, the business is well capitalised, looking forward they may have to tighten their belts, if cutting back on staff is necessary then so be it, it is principally a consultancy and service provider, so maybe high costs in terms of remuneration, but needs must!

Isn't the idea to buy a sound business when times are grim and the shares appear cheap, or have I totally missed the point of investment ?

Doesn't surprise me though. Plenty of people bought buy to let during the housing boom and then wondered what had hit them. The clever ones, bought during the dips. When I say clever, I don't mean rocket scientists of course, just a bit of common sense works ;-)

The difficult bit is working out how sound a business is, as a business. Doing OK in bad times is a good start.

I have been looking at this share but I am a bit confused about something. In the 2014 annual report I notice the Group had outstanding commitments for future minimum lease of about £22.3M due within the next year - this surely can't be right can it?
