Decent chance of one in the coming days, there was in Feb 2011(inline),Jan 2013 (ahead), Feb 2014(profit warning). No 1st half update in 2012 though.

Ticking up though.........

Judging by how difficult it was to get any last week, it could just be stock-shortage + some bottom fishing.

Up over 8% today for no apparent reason. No idea why but certainly not complaining.

Really getting clobbered today down 7% to 32/33 - However seems to be standing up better than many oil service coys but if it follows the bulk of them still could have further to fall -

Does not look like much - if any - buying support -

Continuing to fall - Oil coys cutting exploration activities in a big way -

OK should survive as cash positive BUT needs to cover some £5.5 million of cost of sales (£2M approx) and the big cash burner Administration £3.5 million)

Some revenue in the bag but without knowing the allocation by year could be a possiblity (imo) that might struggle to break even this year -

Accounts were very cautious about business going forward (imo & reading between the lines)

Agreed well run as pointed out by RCT but they are a minnow in a global hurricane.

Shanklin, I am happy to accumulate here. I think it is possible to take a reasonably long term view of things. Profits are being made, dividends paid, cash in the bank etc. I have confidence in the management, there are insider buys etc.

RCT2, Why buy GTC now please?

I would rather pay more on very good news albeit I don't expect any good news.

That would explain why they are doing quite well at a point when you wouldn't expect them to. Perhaps they were mentioning some negatives as a bit of 'insurance'.

Am I imagining this or was there something in the chancellor's autumn statement about tax credits for exploration ? Not that it would affect GTC much I guess.

Yump yes it does but of course it will hit different companies in different ways. Getech is quite a small company and so how they perform is much more about them than about the sector.

Does oil exploration expenditure actually dip when the oil price drops ?

Or more importantly, will Getech's services in improving existing exploration have increasing significant.

I should say I'm seeing it as a someone without a deep knowledge of the industry, so could be talking total rubbish.

Its just that their report on good recent demand seems at odds with their services being hit by reduced exploration spend.

The Middle East does not break even at 20 that is nonsense, most need oil around 100 to service their government spending.

Shale oil is expensive and the wells don't last as long - an ave 12mths.

The Middle East producers break even at $20 so can run the US shale industry out of business, go and do some research

This low oil price is going to affect the oil services industry. Money will flow out once it is realised this is not a blip.

Some feel oil is heading down much further over the next 12mths the world seems awash with oil. Not good.

Oil price and oil co stocks crashing. It's got to have a knock on effect here. In bad times (low oil price) the oil cos tend to sit back and don't spend so trout and Yump have a point.

And of decent size too........£44,000.

No scientific data to back it up but almost prefer purchases in wife's (or daughters) name as directors probably subsciously out to impress with decision making.

Shows what you know Trout Pout, the shale cos. will weather this storm, they have already made the investment, and it's only the few weaker ones who need a high oil price, Devon Energy and co. still make money at $60 or less!
