14/2/2023 12:17 | Pan African Resources is a 200K per annum gold miner in SA. Trades at 4x earnings. Kurdish oil and gas companies like GKP and Genel yield 12-15% and trade at just 2-3x earnings. Steep discounts are all down to geopolitical risks. If these do not materialise however they could double or triple from here. | justiceforthemany
14/2/2023 11:12 | The S African shareholders are more used to political risk and only 88k have traded there against 620k in London. Should rally from here. | saracen3
14/2/2023 10:46 | Liberum comment today 27p target Gemfields (BUY, TP 27p) – Insurgency attack near exploration camp There has been a suspected insurgency attack 15km south wests of the exploration camp of Nairoto Resources (75% owned by Gemfields) and employees are the process of being evacuated. The attack is 83km north of Montepuez Ruby operations and there is no impact to operations there. We have already raised the discount rate used in our NPV calculation from 15% to 25% for Montepuez last October, when insurgency activity occurred closer to the mine. We think the likelihood of attack on operations is small, given it size, but the risk can not be ruled out. Recently Total has said to consider returning to the area for their gas investments as they believed insurgency activity was winding down | saracen3
14/2/2023 10:24 | Next stop 14p here by Friday as people digest the news today | teacup

14/2/2023 10:16 | A great opportunity for Gemfields to start its 50m share buy back. | saracen3
14/2/2023 10:06 | The Mozambique Government is doing everything possible to keep the ruby mine open as it is just about the only tax payer in the province. That is why the army is now based in the local town. | saracen3
14/2/2023 09:47 | I jumped this morning on the news. Too many unknowns for now. | raleigh43
14/2/2023 09:25 | As Gemfields produces about 60% of World ruby production and Myanmar exports are sanctioned, any threat to production pushes up the price of rubies as buyers fear disruption to supply. | saracen3
14/2/2023 09:10 | Africa is always going to be higher risk. Orphans and widows etc. Same goes for Latin America, and other emerging economies. | farnesbarnes
14/2/2023 08:44 | Tipped by Midas a matter of weeks ago. Explains the P/E of 4 Dividend of 12% or more No reward without risk? | justiceforthemany
14/2/2023 08:02 | When the ruby mine was closed some months ago the shares only fell 10% and bounced straight back up again. The mine remains open. The share price is largely backed by cash and the final dividend due to be announced next month will put the shares on a yield of 13% plus. Great buying opportunity for those like Teacup who missed out on the shares rising 200% in 2 years. | saracen3
14/2/2023 07:50 | Watch the share price fall over the next few days | teacup
14/2/2023 07:42 | 83 km away from the ruby mine which is where the army is based, no effect on ruby production. The site closed is an exploration base only. the news is irrelevant. The poster has not read the RNS properly. | saracen3
14/2/2023 07:16 | This mornings news is disastrous. I can see why the seller cleared out. Who knows what will happen now. | teacup |
