23/7/2019 22:32 | There may be a bit of anxiety about the wording used in the RNS on 30 July. The Bears often come out to play when the results are released - they exaggerate any slightly negative comment or cautious words.Eisenhorn has a page on IMDB. Mostly empty at the moment but IMDB will post information and photos as the project progresses. | nod
23/7/2019 15:34 | Steadily been walked down by about 9% over the last 3 weeks. | shanklin
22/7/2019 20:51 | W1, I never watched Ultramarines. Same writer, Dan Abnett, who was also a writer on Guardians of the Galaxy books and movies. Frank Spotnitz has done a stack of highly rated shows (look up on imdb) and is less likely to produce a dud at this stage of his career. | nod
22/7/2019 08:17 | Nod, this is just another example of technology catching up with WH. The special FX tech means that they can now make an amazing film. Social media and the internet have proved great for engaging with new and existing customers. Now developments in film tech mean they can better exploit the IP. Gaming tech is doing wonders, too. And the good news is that there's still loads to do and more being created the whole time. It's a mini/specialised version of Disney. None of this would have been possible without Kirby but it's unlikely much of what is happening would do so if he were still there. w1 ps I don't know if you remember the last attempt at a WH film with John Hurt doing to the voice over. | woozle1
22/7/2019 07:29 | GAW did put out a detailed Press Release on Wednesday 17th on its Warhammer Community site. I missed that. It's not on the Investor Relations page, for some reason. | nod
22/7/2019 07:18 | Martin / Shanks, I've only just found time to read the Warhammer Community post about the TV Series. Exciting material. Star Wars, step aside. “Gregor Eisenhorn is a relentless force in the Dark Future of the Warhammer universe: a destroyer of daemons and a purger of heretics, implacable, powerful and dedicated. But the appeal to me, from the moment I started writing him, was his complexity. He is not the simple, ruthless hero he appears to be. His battle with the Warp leads him into dark places and forces him to question his duty, his understanding of the Imperium, and his own identity. With Eisenhorn, it’s not just the adventures, and they are certainly vivid: it’s the journey he takes to the very limits of what he is and what it means to be loyal.” – Dan Abnett (author) | nod
22/7/2019 07:02 | Posted on July 20, 2019 by Robin Brooks "This weekend, the latest big-box Warhammer game, Warcry will be available to preorder. The game is causing a stir in the Warhammerry corner of the internet, but what exactly is Warcry and why might you want it? " | nod
22/7/2019 06:56 | Royston Wild of Motley Fool with another review on GAW. Worth a read to make you feel good on a Monday. 50% in 12 months! Can they keep delivering? Royston Wild | Sunday, 21st July, 2019 "There are very few companies which do what this FTSE 250 giant does. Through its vast network of shops Games Workshop has created a loyal community of customers who come to chat, paint and buy all-things Warhammer." | nod
19/7/2019 13:23 | This is why it's tough to crack the Japan market: "The set of miniatures, five in all, are designed in what is known as the super-deformed style with all parts intentionally out of proportion. Bandai will sell the tiny figures in a blind-box format, meaning that collectors will not know what they have until they open the packaging." | nod
19/7/2019 11:46 | Good stuff - highlights the multi-pronged approach to expansion in Japan. | cockerhoop
19/7/2019 11:32 | Some more detail on that licensing deal with Bandai and an interesting insight on GW in Japan: | robinnicolson
18/7/2019 21:38 | 95% of UK companies would issue an RNS about this TV deal but not GAW. Decent trade volume this afternoon. May be US buyers understanding this news better. | nod
18/7/2019 11:50 | This is amazing news. GAW will have its own long-running TV ad campaign to recruit new hobbyist. For anyone new to this company, look back at the effect of the LOTR films. Not sure it will be as strong but it will give the business plenty of profile globally. Everything appears to be moving in the right direction at the moment. w1 | woozle1
18/7/2019 07:00 | LOL, difficult not to be aware of the planned TV series when one receives a GAW email with the following link... | shanklin
18/7/2019 05:27 | News of the planned TV-Series is all over the Hollywood press and elsewhere. Famous executive producer, Frank Spotnitz. A TV series will bring a lot of new recruits to the hobby."Eisenhorn," a live-action TV-series based on the Warhammer 40,000 game and books is in the works. "The X-Files" exec producer Frank Spotnitz will be showrunner. Big Light has teamed with Games Workshop, which owns Warhammer 40,000 to develop the property.Billed as a genre-bending sci-fi and fantasy series, "Eisenhorn" is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where humankind teeters on the brink of annihilation. It will follow inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn and his band of investigators as they fight to thwart the schemes of aliens and heretics.https://var | nod

16/7/2019 22:07 | GBP is 27% lower against USD than 5 years ago in 2014.GBP Is 20% lower than 4 years ago against EUR.These are key markets for GAW. Lower GBP equates to higher profits.GAW has just increased its prices in the USA. This has been our fastest growing region. Should the price increase put a dent in USA sales growth, then GAW could adjust prices back. However, next year I think we'll see continued strong growth in North America and significantly higher profits with a weaker Pound.GAW announced last year that it would also focus on Germany for growth. It will be interesting to see a Germany update. | nod
16/7/2019 14:56 | As I've no summer hol plans and holder of GAW, I'm defo cheering on the fall in £ versus € and $. W1 | woozle1
16/7/2019 14:53 | Thank you, Martin - that is very helpful! Always grateful to learn new things and how to 'navigate' the world of investing, which is all new to me :). All the best, Anna | dragonfly63
16/7/2019 14:48 | dragonfly Since we already know a great deal about the results to be announced on 30-Jul-19, the reaction to these results is likely primarily to be driven by trading since year-end and GAW's outlook statement. To prepare yourself for the results, it would be worth you looking at past results statements to see the type of language used by GAW in these area, and also at what transpired results-wise after this use of language. Given the new-Brexit date, I guess we may get some commentary on GAW's approach to this. Also historically, PH's estimates of revenue and profits going forward have historically been incredibly pessimistic. In the past this has moved the share price down even on good results, until reality has kicked in showing the business has been doing much better than PH's forecasts. That is not to say this pattern will continue going forward. HTH. Cheers, Martin | shanklin
16/7/2019 14:40 | Many thanks to All for your helpful comments in this matter! Yes - you are absolutely correct - I am very new to investing (since April only) and the GAW shares are the ones that seemed to be the most stable ones in my portfolio, which is why I was so surprised by their 'sudden' drop in value. However, I keep believing in them, and wish to thank you for your reassurances! Truly appreciated. | dragonfly63 |
