As you know, my opinion on Natural Heritage was that they seemed unable to provide a proper and professional reply for the benefit of the planning process, therefore it was likely that any pp decision was going to be challenged in the courts.

I had a very quick look at the latest paperwork, and it seems that they have finally, after over 2 years, come up with a conditional yes. It remains to be seen if the conditions will allow practical u/g mining.

To be fair the the placing is pretty small
Main purpose seems to be to allow loan to equity conversion, on the one hand you could said they're getting a chunk of the company on the cheap on the other at least they appear to be still committed to making it work in the long term.
Usually placings infuriate me but this one I'm fairly relaxed about.

Reprocessing tailings to produce a between 298 and 526 g/t Gold concentrate could be useful whilst progressing the u/g mine permissions.

Dalradian Receives Full Approval, Including Terms and Conditions, for Underground Bulk Sample

JAN. 23, 2014
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 23, 2014) - Dalradian Resources Inc. ("Dalradian" or the "Company") (TSX:DNA) announces that the Strategic Planning Division of the Northern Ireland Department of Environment has granted full approval, including terms and conditions, of Dalradian's permit application for underground exploration development at its Curraghinalt Gold Project in County Tyrone. The Approval of Planning Permission contains a number of terms and conditions under which the underground exploration program must operate, including several pre-conditions that must be met before any work commences. Dalradian views the conditions as reasonable, and expects to meet all preconditions in the next eight weeks. Full details of the approval are posted on the Northern Ireland government portal at

"We're delighted to receive the green light for our underground bulk sample program," commented Patrick F.N. Anderson, Dalradian's CEO. "From submission of our application, the entire permitting process has taken less than a year. Contracts for our key underground and surface contractors will be awarded in short order and we expect to begin underground work by the end of the first quarter. Complementing the information we receive from our underground program will be an updated resource later this quarter followed by an updated economic study later in the year."

Only available until tomorrow night

Dalradian underground exploration will require 1200 trucks to export rock off site for testing but this doesn't require an EIA. Approval expected next week.

Although reading the conditions suggests a twelve month monitoring period prior to starting underground, if I have read this correctly.

Ignore my assumption, I was incorrect.

Natural Heritage and HSE to go

The RNS of 20.12.13 announcing a Special Meeting does not indicate a conversion price, which at the current level could introduce 100m shares.

It will be interesting to get an update on the strategic review

bageo,
Logic is blatantly simple, managers of Galantas didn't do their jobs properly , managers of Dalradian did do their jobs properly.

DURKAN ANNOUNCES GOLD EXPLORATION APPROVAL

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has announced planning approval to extend an underground exploration project for gold and common metals, near Gortin, County Tyrone.
~ Wednesday, 4 December 2013

The proposal is a temporary exploration project and involves the extension of the existing 700 metre tunnel to 2,100 metres over a three year period.

1,400 cubic metres would be exported for testing and 6,000 cubic metres would be filled onto agricultural land to the north of the site and returned to agriculture. The proposal intends to establish the feasibility of a larger mining operation in the area.

Mark H Durkan said: "Companies like Dalradian Resources are working to unearth gold discoveries and in the process are bringing jobs and investment to the region, I very much welcome this.

"Over 50 jobs will be created. These and the wider benefits the development will bring will help the local economy.

"Environmental protection will be of paramount importance, the company will be operating within very strict compliance parameters. This combination will help achieve my vision of creating a stronger economy, a better environment."

This project represents further significant inward investment by the internationally recognised Canadian company Dalradian Resources Inc and opens up the exciting possibility of a major long-term mining operation.

During the exploration work, bulk samples of mineralised rock will be taken to confirm the grade, tonnage and continuity of the mineralised veins of rock already detected. The work will also allow the technical and economic feasibility of extracting minerals to be evaluated.

Hi bageo, yes it is irksome to put it mildly. Perhaps Dalradian have placed a greater value on being good neighbours than Roland.

I do view the political and social situation in NI becoming increasingly unbalanced and worry that we may see a resurgence of sectarianism, due in part to an increase in the number facing poverty. I would no longer describe NI as 'open for business'.

Aside from social concerns, environmental legislation [EU] will see the end of the majority of extractive industries in the UK.

bamboo - the odd thing (being polite) is that Dalradian not far down the road don't even have to do an EIA for their underground trial mine. If anyone can explain the logic of that ....

Anyone thinking of gambling on a positive decision from the planners should take special note of the replies made on the planning portal by NI Natural Heritage. IMO their stance makes the restoration of an U/G mine almost impossible.

Central decision makers can ignore NH's view and give the green light anyway, but I can almost guarantee this will be challenged by a JR. Given the success of previous JR's the decision will probably challenged anyway.

Sorry to be so negative, but I think potential investors in GAL should be very, very cautious.
