06/11/2012 12:21 | Is there a planning meeting scheduled for today? | bahamasoil
03/11/2012 14:07 | unionhall, yes, protecting both sides seems like the best way forward. A compromise has already been agreed once with respect to the transport issue, and I hope this will be re-instated. A good way forward would be for the DOE to enable regular monitoring and discussion with all parties, so that problems can be solved when and if they first occur, rather than years later. The current situation serves no-one. It is likely that Dalaradian and other companies looking to exploit minerals elsewhere in NI will want to develop their licences at some point and DOE will be facing similar issues, so it is sensible for them to build on the experience gained in Omagh. Attwood has inherited a poorly performing dept of govt and needs to put systems in place to ensure fairness for all. | bamboo2
03/11/2012 12:31 | Yes - it is a pity when the operations expertise of companies is not matched by their and the administrators' administrative nous. More give and take and fewer entrenched positions should allow both sides to be protected. | unionhall
03/11/2012 10:37 | We should hopefully bounce off this orange line at some point. MM's made someone pay 3.1p this week. unionhall, yes the drilling figures look good, however we need to see evidence of DOE sorting out the mess they have made of the planning situation before we can move forward. Looking at a recent letter on the planning portal, it seems that one of the objectors is going to move away, but not before he has fouled things up as much as possible for everyone else. Scotland was mentioned, perhaps he will move near the Scotgold mine and start bothering them. | bamboo2
29/10/2012 13:05 | Superb drilling results here today... | unionhall
27/10/2012 12:06 | bamboo .... I haven't given up on Omagh minerals I have far too much invested here to do that. Anger and frustration with the situation. | nat hart
26/10/2012 19:50 | fordtin, crikey, I thought they had already given permission for the Hospital! I must check my facts more thoroughly. I think I based that on one of the pictures taken by Gordon earlier this year, which show the start of development work in the grounds of the old hospital. [25/03/2012] It looks like Attwood means business, and will do all in his power to promote NI as a forward looking region. | bamboo2
26/10/2012 18:20 | Nat, Are we all to give up on Omagh Minerals? Perhaps we should consider what could happen if we don't get permission for the going underground? I have some ideas about that, but they don't involve giving up and going quietly away. EIA's are part of life now, with many planning permission cases. There's no point blaming the Linnet and the Stonefly. Let's accept that. Over the last two to three years the company have gone to great lengths to adhere to all the conditions and requirements of various authorities/water inspections etc and it should be recognised that Galantas is committed to good practice. I believe that there will be a successful compromise reached regarding the roads issue, and that the company will continue to mine gold, one way or another. | bamboo2
26/10/2012 10:53 | You can now download either low or high resolution BGS geological maps for County Tyrone. The Omagh mine is shown. Reading around the planning portal and elsewhere, there seems to be some evidence of a desire from DOE to get on with decision making. There is a hiccup on the roads scheme seemingly because of a reference to the previously quashed pp. Objectors look to be splitting hairs. I have confidence in Attwood and it appears that he has the bit between the teeth. | bamboo2
20/10/2012 19:32 | Job creation ought to get a 70% weighting in these dire economic times. If Galantas are refused then Dalriadan will never be able to create the hundreds of jobs which could be in the pipeline if they continue to prove up high grade gold mineralisation around Mid/West Tyrone/South Derry. Large parts of those rural counties in Northern Ireland could literally be a goldmine. | craffert
19/10/2012 09:36 | Regarding roads/planning I think this is an interesting development announced yesterday.. Larne Lough gas facility expected to be approved According to the article "More than 350 complaints have been made to planners" and also according to Nigel Hamilton, from Marine Conservation Northern Ireland, construction would bring "a considerable amount of high, heavy vehicle traffic movements on to the island on what are particularly narrow roads, unsuitable for this type of traffic movement, over a three to four year period". Clearly, according to Mr Attwood's thinking this particular issue should not be an impediment to job creation. | ttnyrp
16/10/2012 14:24 | hi george, it's worth knowing that the contaminatedwasteroc The real story is that the planning applications have been combined and are subject to consideration by DOE under Article 31. This could mean an inquiry, but it is much more likely that a decision will be made by the minister and his department. We have seen this time after time under Article 31. Large planning applications are always referred to the minister, even when final ratification occurs at local level. A recent example is the Sainsbury application at the Scott Feeds site. The Hotel and Golf Course at Giants Causeway is another example of an Article 31 decision. | bamboo2
12/10/2012 19:11 | Anyone any ideas about these late night trades showing up on daily trades but not appearing in the archived data? eg, today we have 170,000 at 2.7953 timed at 21:00 This is at least the second time, if not the third time this week. | bamboo2
11/10/2012 21:25 | Hi Nat, with regard to any claim for compensation, I don't think shareholders would be entertained. Perhaps the company could persue a claim for damages. I'm sure Roland will have discussed this possibility with his advisors. It could well be wiser for Roland to wait and see the next move from Attwood. | bamboo2
11/10/2012 09:12 | Hi Nat, You seem to have given up all hope that the politicians will ever allow the mineral extraction required to make this a profitable concern. It would be madness on NI's behalf given the potential for the whole mineral rich area (including outside of GAL's territory) to actively pursue this course of action. Maybe as someone earlier alluded to they prefer to keep the people unemployed than in gainful employment. I think this calls for some Westminster intervention. | topbidd
10/10/2012 19:18 | Whichever or whatever I believe at the very least we have a case as mis-informed investors in this now defunct gold mine to seek compensation from the Northern Ireland Government. Basically if the Linnet lovers are entitled to compensation which is what the minister is saying then we too as the innocent victims who invested our money into this are and also entitled. We have it seems from this statement unwittingly become the innocent victims of what can only be described as a fraudulent act. AIMO | nat hart
10/10/2012 16:20 | Interesting that the new EIA regulations didn't come in until March 2012, a month after the two recently quashed approvals were passed. I'm not sure if this means we will have to write an up to date EIA before Alex Attwood re-examines the application. I'd like to know if the JR was made aware of the campaign against the mine, and the long history of the few individuals involved. Given their [the anti's] policy of misinformation, was it any wonder that Planning enforcement was slow to deal with the complaint? | bamboo2 |
