New JWE DLC, Claire's Sanctuary, is currently No.2 in Top sellers UK Steam list, and No.3 in Global Top sellers list.

"finnCap corporate 1750" Broker works for the company.

"Liberum Capital Buy 1800" Broker works for the company.

"Peel Hunt Buy 1300 (way out IMO)" Broker does not work for the company.

No prize for spotting a pattern here.

Peel Hunt has just cut its target and there's plenty of reasons that could be justified. Planet Zoo is in a very niche genre, misses all of the feature tickboxes of current hit games, is losing out on most of the games market by not being on console or mobile, only the declining premium PC platform. And FDEV changing its tune, previously claiming Planet Zoo was a new franchise and now saying not, with it looking more and more like just a zoo mod of Planet Coaster. Even the guests look like they've just been lifted direct from Coaster.

And no other new games this year. It seems Frontier can still only release one game a year despite 440 staff.

And then there's the Tencent tie-up that never happened...

Always want to be holding where growth is accelerating. Yes it can't go on for ever but it can go on a lot longer than people expect. I'm holding until trend and/or earnings break down

What explanation makes you think growth rate can't be sustained ? Quite the opposite imo

Thank you for the explanation. Presumably the stellar growth rate announced today cannot be sustainable in the medium/long term, which perhaps makes the present valuation more reasonable.

I agree with endion, that a valuation of £18 is more justified now - another new game coming up, Frontier Publishing being kicked off, etc..

FDEV's last game launch was Jurassic World Evolution, last June, around when the peak share price occurred - it was a bit of "buy the rumour, sell the news" (not that the game launch was a rumour). The share price got ahead of itself, and then the following fall was overdone as well. All my opinion.

It was regarding the Jurassic World movie tie in. There isnt much of a free float with fdev, so the share price can move pretty quickly. In hindsight it got a bit ahead of itself when it hit £18 last year due to the excitement of the JW IP. however fdev can certainly justify a valuation of £18 now with a very robust trading update and the current great press and reception of Planet Zoo.

I’m a newcomer here with just a small holding picked up at just under £10 in February on directorspeak. Could a more knowledgable poster please explain why the share price was over £18 a year ago?

I think Planet Zoo is going to do very very well and surprise many people (including financial analysts). Compared to JWE it has the downsides of no film tie in and not being multi-platform (although that is a strength too, as it won't be limited by the current console capabilities). On the upside what has been shown already shows a game that is much much better than both JWE and Planet Coaster with things those games were criticised for seemingly rectified (e.g. management depth, weather etc). They have had the OS/graphics/UI platform available from the previous games and have been able to concentrate more on the game itself is my interpretation. There has been little to criticise so far and the community reaction has been fantastic. Then there is the potential for implementation on the next generation consoles when they arrive (my speculation) and plenty of scope for later DLC.

Fantastic news on the revenue forecast. Above upper estimates of broker forecasts.

Planet Zoo in Games Radar top 10 games of E3, across all platforms:

scotch broth, they launched their latest game, Jurassic World Evolution, this time last year. The largest number of sales occur on launch, as we will also see with the launch of Planet Zoo this coming Autumn. So, it's lumpy revenue.

I would add, I'm actually pleased with the size of the second half revenue as it has all come from existing games/DLC rather than from a new game launch. It's the 'background' revenue ignoring new releases.

Is there a reason for the seasonality? It seems they made next to no money in the second half.
