Two points.1) there were big director buys at 1350 from memory back in the autumn2) more a question. I was wondering how we pay universal for the franchise. I wonder if we just pay them per unit sold and/or whether we have to give them anything for subsequent paid for content. If we don't pay them for providing later content, then surely the incentive if there to make a "good enough" game with the initial launch but with later add ins to make it a great game as FDEV acts on player feedback? Remember, it is about building multiple multi-year franchises.

My guess is there is a bit of playing peoples nerves along with an actual seller. Company isn't going to comment on sales til discs ship so is in effect in a quiet period, but not for long. They said the would announce new franchise at an opportune time for them, perhaps that will be soon. JWE is clearly selling so risk of sales disappointment looks very slim.

Those announcong that they sold are probably shorters who never held.

I thought it was normal profit taking in a weakening market but now it looks more like some kind if corporate action or director selling etc. The share price has been walked down imo

Never understand when pi’s wet themselves and sell at the lowest point in several months they feel the need to publicly announce it on a message board. It’s the opposite of what investing should look like.

My only focus in what Jwe is doing for for sales - on PlayStation and x box it’s in the top 4 on amazon across us, (UK) and Germany.

Panic is panic and I hate falls as much as the next person but we had am ahead rns only 2 weeks ago and we know jwe is selling well...so important to keep these things in context.

Agreed. Looking very suspicious, unless someone can point to any public news that has caused the (latest) sudden fall...

Maybe raptors escape and ate all the Board of directors?

Doesn't make any sense to me . Just over two weeks ago we had an RNS that announced beating expectations for the last year. Since then we can see that JWE has been selling well. Some profit taking was to be expected but not this much. Oh well, I continue to hold tight.

Also, the release of Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter Two is tomorrow. I hope we see Elite Dangerous higher up in the Steam Top Seller charts as a result.

Quick off the mark there haggishunter, thanks!

The free update will include vending machines, a claw arcade style machine, staff clothes colour customisation, different triggerable screen filters among general tweaks I imagine.

Paid DLC is yet to be revealed. A few people predicting an arcade style update to tie in with some of the content of the free update. We will find out next week.

Ref getting ip from third parties perhaps fdev are eyeing up an acquisition and the insti’s only want to pay 14 pounds... who knows! (This comment is obviously purely speculative but Swedish companies have been very active doing this recently so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it). I’m holding tight as I believe Braben will create his vision of creating a multi billion pound games company.

There’s also a job on the website for a legal team specialist who deals with IP deals.

Ck11 - look on their website at job descriptions. They are looking for a junior outsource role. Google will tell you outsourcing is used to provide development flexibility - I.e. hire a team of 10 devs and drop them when not needed as opposed to hiring your own staff. It’s also used to provide many of the more tedious and boring aspects of game development or where a niche is required which isn’t available in house. So the publisher takes the financial risk and also does a lot of the game mechanics and creative side of things too I expect

Promotion/distribution might work in a similar way to what Team17 are doing. Team17 essentially co-develop projects, but take the lead on marketing, finance anf publishing. For which they take a commission of sales.

I think that Braben is laying out a very far forward thinking road map in that statement. These are all activities that big game devs do anyway, Frontier just hasnt expanded to that scale yet. I think its good that he is looking far ahead. Companies like KWS are doing well for the very reason that many devs now outsource different aspects of game development.

This is a legally dubious topic re china. Tencent havent launched an official release of the game, however there are chinese translations of the game so it must be something that is in the pipeline. Usually games need to be sold through a chinese distribution company, though I imagine people may play the game through a vpn.

Does anyone know whether JWE will be on sale in China and other Asian markets? Also whether the film will be shown in those places.
