A 3 year high and a doubling from the lows will always prompt a bit of profit taking. There has been massive change at ftc in the last 2 years with many growth opportunities now within reach not least the Leo space projects. Expect a few snide remarks from non holders and ex employees its par for the course!

These results should be no surprise to anyone who has paid attention to what they have been telling us over the last 12 months. Global semi conductor shortages have impacted their business opportunities, but the situation is improving. I'm expecting a big increase in profits in the FY24 results, so I'm confidently holding on to my shares.

If people bother to read the text it is easy to see why the broker is preparing for take off

Not read the finncap note but the headline "preparing for take off" sums it up

The low orbit satellites offering 5g open up quite a lucrative market specifically aircraft and cruise ships. The contract for FTC is to provide the link from the low orbit satellite back to earth station.. I have read forecasts of 30,000 low orbit satellites over the next 20 years.

Ftc got mentioned in the Times this morning, sorry not techie enough to paste article ! Also worth noting the uk is one of the leading countries in space tech and data shows it was worth over £18bn in 2021.

I think the same bazworth.

I've held this for a good few years now and am 90% ahead overall - and thought about selling, but short of NASA (possibly?), I can't really imagine a more prestigious partner than the ESA. I don't pretend to understand the tech though. Previously, I was disappointed that FTC seemed to have exited what I thought was going to be the big 5G opportunity - yet today we hear about 6G in addition to 5G - and for a contract worth c.10% of the entire mkt cap.

Moreover, Chris Mills is on board and his track record is phenomenal.

All in all, then, I've decided to stay in for the ride - which is a rarity for me as I'm usually more of a value investor (as I believe FTC was when I first bought in IIRC - but it's so long ago now that I honestly can't remember).

Anyway, I think the safest thing to do is to delete it from my spreadsheet as otherwise I'll get too tempted to sell - and I ALWAYS sell too early.

Reckon we’re at the start of quite a transformation here at FTC. May, as always, need a little patience!

The two paras, as follows, sound extremely promising:

"The LEO space market is developing fast and the need for higher bandwidth links between satellites and the ground station is inevitable.

"Working with ESA to develop products at multiple frequencies, that can be supplied as part of next generation LEO constellations, is both timely and strategically important for Filtronic."

Not invested currently but well done to holders. Like others I have a soft spot for FTC, my first ever investment in 2000 in the 4 quid region when a motley fool regular.
