Indeed. I sold out a long time ago but still have a soft spot for FTC. Well done indeed.

Given the very recent update from Filtronic I think that they are confident of hitting their targets and having a successful 2023/4 too.

Not good news. Dow Jones News1009 GMT - Nokia and Ericsson are among the most mentioned companies across news items over the past three hours, according to Factiva data, with both of their shares falling after updates. Nokia has lowered its full-year sales guidance and narrowed its operating margin outlook due to weaker demand in its network infrastructure and mobile networks businesses, given a tougher macroeconomic environment and as customers work through built-up inventory. Ericsson said second-quarter sales in North America were down 50%, and that it expects trends and market mix to continue into the third quarter. It added that third quarter Ebita margin is expected to be in line with, or slightly below the second quarter. Citi analysts wrote that Nokia's warning is directionally similar to Ericsson's, although the magnitude of change for Nokia is greater as its full-year guidance had anticipated greater improvement in 2H. "The telecom equipment market is facing stronger headwinds than we anticipated, in particular in the key U.S. market, where inventory digestion and weaker deployments are leading to greater pressure on near-term revenue." Any fundamental recovery looks delayed into 2024, Citi says. Nokia shares are currently down 8.35%, while Ericsson shares are down 7.8%. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva. (ian.walker@wsj.com.)

In the current climate - UK offering value for money as a takeover location coupled with a technology company spanning telecoms, space, defence and it being non Chinese stuff then it ticks alot of boxes..

The manager of Rockwood strategic Richard Staveley has a great reputation for picking winners. He is presenting tomorrow morning at 1000 on the website "Investor meets company" Maybe worth a listen.
If he is buying Filtronic then we may well have a cracker of a story.

Filtronic (LON:FTC) – Firm Hold For Further Recovery
Last Friday morning’s Trading Update from this high-tech products supplier showed some positivity.

The company, which is involved in designing and manufacturing for the aerospace, defence, telecoms and critical communications markets, informed shareholders that its supply chain issues have started to ease, while its opportunity pipeline is still building.

CEO Richard Gibbs stated that:

“Throughout the year our primary markets have remained robust, and we enter the new financial year with a strong order book, a significant number of promising development programmes and opportunity pipeline that has doubled during the course of the last year.

Notwithstanding the disruptions caused by shortages of electronic components, we believe that we are continuing to make the right investments in the business to capitalise on the exciting near-term opportunities in our core markets.

We have been encouraged by the closing of two new telecoms infrastructure contracts early in our new trading year and will look to build further momentum as the year progresses.”

Analysts Michael Hill and Kimberley Carstens at finnCap now have estimates for the year to end May this year, showing a slight dip in revenues to £16.3m (£17.1m) while it might only show a £0.1m adjusted pre-tax profit against £1.5m previously.

For the current year they look for a partial recovery to £0.8m profits from £20.5m sales.

The brokers have a price objective set on the group’s shares at 20p.

We should get a bigger picture of the group’s progress on Tuesday 1st August when the group reports its finals.

The group’s shares, which have been up to 17.34p in the last year, are currently 14.50p valuing the group at £31.3m.

The shares are a firm hold for further recovery

Worth reading the RKW results. They don't mention FTC but they have been very successful finding small, undervalued companies that often get taken over

You clearly cannot read ...Our RF technology is a potential key enabler in this sector, and we are committed to building the organisation necessary to execute our technology roadmap and continue to engage with the major industry players and relevant government agencies...muppet

It feels like the stars are aligning but the headline figures are not great. However, that gives scope to show explosive growth next year. If this year would have been 10/20% better without components delays, then we could easily see next years results catching that up plus having the benefit of accelerating organic momentum.

And there it is this am. A very good read it is too!

Shortages receding and two new contracts of £0.5m each.

LEO work going very well too!

Well done FTC!

Hopefully we will see the promise materialise during this new fy.

RKWs general approach is to identify companies selling at a deep discount and likely to be takeover targets. I'm sure that's the plan here.
