24/3/2018 11:17 | I wish it was always this easy - By Evil Knievil 23 March 2018 'A contact, William Butler, had warned me to be careful about shorting Fevertree (LON:FEVR) since he reckons that there can be a takeover or a decision by the management to develop a product line which might achieve exactly the same rating. He is at the other end of equities assessment to mine and I let it go. But, staggeringly, Charles Rolls, now no longer a director, announces this morning that he has placed 3 million shares at £27.50 with institutions. These people live in another world. He has still got circa 10 million shares to go and is sworn not to sell any more for three months.' - Thanks to Simon Cawkwell. I like SC. He's no 'wet behind the ears' naive muppet but an experienced, street-fighting trader and astute investor. Make of his statement what you will | mirabeau
23/3/2018 23:27 | ps UK clothing sales are forecast to grow by about 16% over the next 5 years and yes consumer spending will be under pressure but disposable income will be prioritised on food, drink and leisure, so the experts reckon anyway.......so if anything this just reaffirms that a read across from NEXT's results to FEVR is not the best thing you have ever posted :). | discodave4
23/3/2018 23:11 | wetdream"With consumer expenditure under pressure, as evidenced by Next's figures"That just confirms that peoples shopping habits have changed, with online growing and bricks and mortar declining, have seen no evidence to suggest a net decline in clothing retail sales, big ticket items yes but not clothing. Sorry but to infer that Nexts decline in shop sales is a read across to a reduction in people's mixer/soft drink consumption is pushing it a bit!.DD | discodave4
23/3/2018 14:40 | Aha, don't know that one, wetdream. Will check it out. Thanks for the heads up! | sogoesit
23/3/2018 13:51 | Villarich, ;-) Sogoesit, Some of his stuff's in the Cartoon Museum near Holborn. Worth a visit if you're in Town. | wetdream
23/3/2018 13:12 | Yep, I;ve been to Hogarth's House/Museum at the Roundabout on the A4... the roundabout being aptly called Hogarth Roundabout!!! Lots of good works to see there about 18th Century London society... ;-) | sogoesit
23/3/2018 13:01 | Thanks wetdream. Always good to have a debate. I get the point about the both chasing the dollar but they're different industries so I can't see a direct read across. Based on a sample size of 1, I would rather spent £25 on a bottle of gin and some Fevertree than a new ted baker pattern rip off polo shirt | villarich
23/3/2018 12:51 | Sogoesit, Hogarth's caricatures made a similar social comment-but with more bite! ;-) | wetdream
23/3/2018 11:46 | Next's profits split looked like this: Retail (Stores): -24.0% Online: +7.4% As Boris would say there is probably/certainly a "switcheroo" taking place between "high street" and online. This is clouding the retail picture imv. There used to be an old heuristic, applied to the brewing industry, which said that the worse things got the more people turned to drowning their sorrows with drink! Sure, women might not seek shopping-out as a "therapy" with less in their pockets but they might turn to the G&T to make up for it ;-)! Just a thought! Anyway, my look across would be SSPG or FIF. | sogoesit
23/3/2018 11:13 | Villarich, They're both after the consumer £. With consumer expenditure under pressure, as evidenced by Next's figures (and others) it'd be weird indeed if those same consumers, while cutting back on clothes and furnishings, just upped their gin consumption. Nothing to do with production techniques. Next have an excellent website to complement their stores. | wetdream
23/3/2018 10:35 | Huge RNS from Serabi Mining SRB 15 million USD investment at the current Share Price, to a single investor. Very low valuation considering its level of gold output. Results this month, last November showed a huge jump in cash to over 9.7 million USD. Rerate now undeway, and stock in very short supply. Up almost 30% already.... | serabi_mining_srb
23/3/2018 10:18 | Sorry I can't get my head around how the results of a bricks and mortar fashion and furniture retailer, reads across to a mixer drinks brand who outsource most of the production process. Only link I can see is they are both considered middle-class brands. | villarich
23/3/2018 09:33 | After Next's figures, I'll be amazed if even FEVR can continue to buck the UK downtrend. Can't help thinking we're at a peak, shortterm. Recent buyers >£28 may have to wait to make their +10%(£31). | wetdream
23/3/2018 08:18 | Haha... yesterday interactive investor introduced a new Level 2 Trade screen and I was setting the different colour schemes. No matter what scheme I chose the figures were always red!! Except for US Treasury Yields!! | sogoesit
23/3/2018 08:08 | Yes anything under 2750 is a buy imo . | ccr1958
23/3/2018 08:08 | Yup - spot on. | villarich
23/3/2018 07:53 | The man’s on a roll... lock-in only 3 months this time. Another big placing last night for any Tencent holders at 405hkd bounced back to 422hkd. (Yep, watching BUR... 1280 is my marker there). | sogoesit
22/3/2018 20:27 | finbarot 20 Mar '18 - 11:17 - 1502 of 1503(premium) Directors/chairman sale of shares about to be announced?? Fevertree Drinks PLC Proposed placing of shares in Fevertree Drinks PLC 22/03/2018 4:35pm ... Fever-Tree announces that it has been advised by Charles Rolls (the "Selling Shareholder"), one of the Company's founders and its Non-Executive Deputy Chairman, that he intends to sell approximately 1,500,000 ordinary shares in the Company (the "Placing Shares") via an accelerated bookbuild placing to institutional investors (the "Placing"). The Placing Shares represent approximately 1.3 per cent. of the issued share capital of Fever-Tree. Assuming that all of the Placing Shares are sold, the Selling Shareholder would continue to have an interest in 11,427,505 ordinary shares in the Company, representing approximately 9.9 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital... | martywidget
