Reads to me like margins will be squeezed, I dont share your confidence that it is baked into the price. Thanks for that particular link.

I think it will have an impact on some companies but like you say, I haven't seen any assessment as to how it could impact Fevertree.I guess we're in a good position though. Fevertree is a premium product where prices tend to be inelastic. So if they did pass on the sugar tax, it'll have very little effect on demand. As an investor and part owner of the company, I hope they choose to pass it on rather than mess with the recipe to try and avoid it. The latter could completely destroy the business. Like the last post says - I think it's priced in to the SP

Thanks for the reply Villa. I was unable to find any assesment on the potential sales impact, only that wholesale sugar prices will fall to compensate, this view may not hold water has sugar is a worldwide commodity not easily influenced by a tax hike in the UK. I think this could curb future growth rate in UK sales taken as it is in context of our already dominant UK mixer market position. This plateau in sales if it were to happen before a significant uptake in U.S sales could lead, in my view to a possible dip in expectations and perhaps a sell off to some degree.

I imagine they'll have to pay it. Tonic water has 8g of sugar putting it in the higher tax band. The rest, apart from the naturally light tonic, have over 5g meaning the tax applies.I haven't seen any communications from the company in regards the tax though - unless I've missed something.
