Yes rereading article looks pretty ominous.I think he will be made an example of and I suspect that uk And swiss authorities will cooperate with ukraine to extradite him back I know that he spent time in washington shortly before blooming land accountancy discrepancy broke

This article makes it sound even worse than I previously thought. He didn't even turn up at hearing today. What does that say about the whole affair? Do we have an extradition treaty with Ukraine should he decide to flee to London, where he seems to spend most of his time anyway?

This from December last year gives an indication of the scale of possible corruption involved at the bank.



Quotation from the article:

According to the fund, insolvent companies received around Hr 3.2 billion ($115 million), between 2010 and 2015, declaring bankruptcy after receiving the loans. Another Hr 1.7 billion ($65 million) was divided between the managers of four other companies that were supposed to build a new business center in Kyiv, but never did.

The fund also said that another $113 million was paid to international companies, but the transactions were not recorded in the bank’s accounting books.

“In general, according to the facts revealed, the fund filed 73 claims, accusing (Finance and Credit bank) of committing offences costing the state Hr 15.5 billion ($550 million), including 16 claims against the owners and officials of the bank, who caused Hr 12.7 billion ($450 million) in damages,” the fund said.

There are no open cases against the Finance and Credit bank at the moment, although 65 cases are undergoing pre-trial investigations, the fund said."

Sounds pretty grim doesn't it? If this was in the UK and managers or directors found guilty of such serious crimes then there would be lengthy prison sentences handed out.

It's actually today that Zhevago faces the DBR for questioning. This is a tough one to call, given the new President's desire to seek out and punish corruption. All down to his actions and personal responsibility for the failure of his bank. This could be the tip of the iceberg, the straw that breaks the camel's back, the very case that sets the precedent for all other failed 'private' oligarch banks in Ukraine, including Privatbank - the biggest to fail.

Zhevago no longer has MP's immunity or protection, having lost his seat after 18 years as an MP.

Am I worried for the effect this may have on the share price if he is prosecuted? YES!! No doubt a large fall on the cards if that happens. I have my fingers crossed that he'll survive and build a stronger company.

Was I lucky to top up at 1.63 today? This year I got 14p divis after tax at source and exchange. If we get the same next year, that's over 8% on today's purchase with potential for doubling capital value as well! We will see.

Although charts have less relevnace in situations like this , it does look like it
could fall to chart support of about 145 in next week or so . a turnaround in iron ore price might help but even that might not help much . Worth watching as must be a buy at some point even for a day or overnight trade .
