28/9/2011 14:33 | Also record profits: David Hudd, Chairman of Falkland Islands Holdings plc, said: "I am pleased to report another successful year for the Group, with underlying pre-tax profits increasing to a record £2.73 million despite challenging trading conditions. The Group's trading businesses remain well positioned in their respective markets and, although near term market conditions in the UK remain tough, we are confident that all three will perform well over the medium term. FOGL has now put in place the funding, rig and other resources required to drill two exploration wells commencing in the first quarter of 2012 and we have undertaken to retain our entire holding of 12 million shares through its drilling programme. Continued exploration drilling will underpin the Falklands' economy, and our spread of interests will continue to generate solid earnings. We should have greater visibility on the prospects of the Falkland Islands becoming an oil province during 2012. The Board is pleased to recommend a final dividend of 5.5p per share, bringing the total dividend for the year to 9.5p per share, an increase of 5.6% on 2010." Financial Highlights Group revenue increased by 9.0% to £31.8 million (2010: £29.2 million) Underlying pre-tax profits* up 1.5% to £2.73 million (2010: £2.69 million) Earnings per share on underlying profits* of 20.9p (2010: 22.0p) Net borrowings at 31 March 2011 of £2.1 million (2010: £1.5 million) Net financing costs of £0.2 million covered more than 14 times by underlying profits* Increased final dividend of 5.5p per share Total dividends for the year of 9.5p per share, up 5.6% (2010: 9.0p per share) | ![]() ifthecapfits
28/9/2011 14:32 | In case anyone missed it. Also divi paid soon :) Picks and shovels of the FI story. "The Group retains its holding of 12 million shares in FOGL, which had a market value at the close of business on 7 September 2011 of £6.5 million, equivalent to 70p for every FIH share in issue. "Assuming approval is granted by shareholders at today's AGM, a final dividend of 5.5p per FIH share will be paid on 14 October 2011 to shareholders registered as at 16 September 2011. This payment will take the total dividend for the year ended 31 March 2011 to 9.5p per share (2010: 9.0p per share). As a result, the annual dividend paid to shareholders will have increased by 58% in the six years since 2005. | ![]() ifthecapfits

15/6/2011 13:33 | Hope so. What about when FOGL start to drill? | babylon3
20/4/2011 10:23 | If you believe all the hype. The Rockhopper chairman has a track record of exaggerating the outlook and given subsequent drilling results in the North Falkland Basin it all seems too good to be true. I can't see a stand alone development in the Falklands working. Not in the short to medium term anyway. You'd have to be desperate to go to all that effort for one producing field. Anyway, Sea Lion has waxy oil, it hasn't been properly flow tested and hasn't yet been proven commercial. FKL wasted shareholders' funds on Momart. That was kid in the sweetshop stuff and doesn't inspire confidence in the competence of the directors. | ![]() gwr7
01/4/2011 20:38 | Oh no, looks like I am being stalked by RBonnier, the guy losing his shirt on CGNR despite my warnings, now over here commenting on a REAL company, and telling us that Rockhopper's 170mn-242mn barrels of oil discovery are, em, made up? If it was DES fair enough, but RKH have found real oil, crude, medium quality, and lots of it. | ![]() craftyspeculator |
