there is no confusion, they tested the 'poor' sands, it had good clean gas, but not enough.. they haven't yet tested the interesting targets

Malcy gets confused trying to work out which menu is for the all you can eat and which is the a la carte down at Mr Yip's Chinese Buffet; I'm not holding my breath that he's going to bounce into the rescue of us bewildered PIs

Malcy seems to have surprised at the poor result, hopefully he will contact TK and check it out a bit more as there seems to be a lot of confusion over this.

Slow climb back up to the surface. All the doom mongers have gone to play elsewhere.

KevJames,

We have 2 zones below what was expected but from todays RNS I would think only the shallowest was tested due to this...

The well's lowest zone, a thin sand with poor reservoir characteristics....

We will soon know.

It is difficult to know quite what to make of the EME announcement which shows ‘sub-commercial gas’ in the lowest zone of the Dempsey well which is testing at the moment. Clearly this is a poor sand but I hadnt expected this as I thought the lower discoveries were the best, but the company remain ‘optimistic217; so I’m sure there is no reason to panic. I may see if I can locate Tom Kelly and ask him…

"The well's lowest zone, a thin sand with poor reservoir characteristics based on the wireline logs, has been perforated and has flowed clean, dry natural gas and no water"

I understand testing it, why not test everything while the kit is there..

but im not sure why you would RNS it, when they had seemingly already guessed it was 'poor'.. why not wait till you had tested the bit that you thought will be a gusher?

So, we've got the upper zones which they have already indicated are commercial enough to pay the cost of the drill,to which could be added this lovely dry gas, albeit in small quanitity, and we still have more zones to flowtest.

What's not to like...?

Let the good times roll!

SoggyThat's my take on it.

Does the setting of a temp plug above this zone mean that if - WHEN! - an upper zone starts to flow they could allow this one to flow along with it? Is there a problem in co-mingling from 2 zomes? If they can, then what the RNS isreally saying is that the zone did not flow at a commercial rate if taken on its own.

Advice please from those knowledgeable on the subject.

(and I topped up with another couple of grands worth this morning - it's like buying tenners for a fiver...)

stewart,

My take is that there are 2 zones below.
Deepest, volcanic, then sandstone...my take is that the next zone tested will be a zone of interest, but I could be wrong. swampydrill and I were discussing this this morning as for me it wasn't so clear reading between the last 2 RNS's.

Well held onto all my shares today despite many on here and LSE advising to get out as predictions of ultra low share prices.

A couple of questions, firstly I had no idea about the logs and I gather if they had been released people would have understood more about the permeability flow etc. and that this first testing although flowed was a thin structure and probably why they stopped drilling.

I had a look at the map again, it looks like there are 7 structures to test and the one tested was outside this so still 7 to test, why was it tested, I don't know, good practice I suppose. Looking at the map is the next test X4 or is there another before it which would make 7 zones plus 2, also someone said the next zone which I assume that was X4 may be similar to todays result, surely that cannot be correct or are they referring to another zone below X4.

Sorry for confusion but I am some what puzzled

TIA

brimsley,

If you see no value here, why waste your time?
Why don't you spend your time finding something to invest in instead of aggravating others?

Hard to argue with FSA Dempsey Well Integrity issues are all the chat in Perth every deep drill in this part of the basin has suffered the same fate Perth is an Oil and Gas Hub and a small town about the size of Aberdeen Everyone knows what is going on and assesses risk differently to the UK as can be seen in valuations Anything can happen but the risk is clearly to the downside as the chart shows Testing may not be possible at all think that over
