Good post Swampy, somebody who knows what they are talking about for a change.
As I said to Rutter the Americans are not fools when it comes to finding profitable gas and oil. Who owned the Dempsey acreage and gave it away for buttons?
Are the Yanks that stupid?

I don't think so somehow.

Rutter, Now is the time to ask the awkward questions don't wait until the shock sheets are published it will be too late then! One question I find hard to get an answer for is how a two bit Aussie outfit like Socgasco could swan in to town and pick up acreage supposedly holding trillions of cubic ft of gas ready for the taking and not a single American company touched it with a forty foot pole.

There are many technologies to deal with sand control from the well if that was an issue, the main issue for gas wells is water being produced, these guys drilled this with a 16 ppg mud weight, once you reduce that hydrostatic head on the well with a lighter completion fluid, you have a big driver down below.
As for 1980's, i have flow tested wells that produced 3000 bbls/oil a day and seen them cemented up as people were looking for 10000 bbls/day wells, is a different world these days, especially when your flowline is 20m away. What you are missing here Harrissen is that these lower sections are the main undeveloped areas of the basin, saying that, even the upper sections are having virgin pressures, the potential here for further development is massive and as they are testing lower sections first, we will see what they have pretty soon.
They will have all the data from the 80's and will plan accordingly to give a good test.

harrison. Haven't done much research on you, but the little I know is that you are only on this EME bb. Strange that you are only on a bb that you are negative about its prospects.

Yes Terry Hardacre, quite agree.
Such a pity that when you operated under the blue name of DrBeng you weren't so enlightened yourself. Do you miss those days of banning people, stalking posters, making death threats and posting hardcore porn?

crosseyed - what a refreshing attitude; democracy indeed. If only others on advfn were so conscious of the need for freedom of speech, and were as open as you are to the abilities of the individual to exercise critical scrutiny. Bravo. And, yes, who the hell won, and how much did they have to cheat to secure the victory ;)?
