29/9/2017 08:19 | Herschel K 29 Sep '17 - 08:16 - 9733 of 9734 0 0 Harrissen obviously doesn't listen. They are using a work over rig because it's CHEAPER. .................... "Workovers rank among the most complex, difficult and expensive types of wellwork. They are only performed if the completion of a well is terminally unsuitable for the job at hand. The production tubing may have become damaged due to operational factors like corrosion to the point where well integrity is threatened. Downhole components such as tubing, retrievable downhole safety valves, or electrical submersible pumps may have malfunctioned, needing replacement." | ![]() harrissen

29/9/2017 08:00 | Harrisen Workover rigs are much cheaper than the full size rigs, so it makes economic sense to release the big rig and carry out the completion work using a smaller rig. I think it very doubtful they have attempted to flow gas yet - they will have to determine the perforations zones from the logs and then get the perforation guns made up accordingly, before lowering and firing. The wording "last resort" tends to conjure up an image that they have tried lots of different means to flow the gas, that is not the case here at the moment. Next week will be when it will start to happen IMO. | ![]() kevjames

29/9/2017 07:46 | tidy 2 29 Sep '17 - 07:26 - 9713 of 9713 0 0 That’s correct. They had the choice of two wo rigs. .................... Did the company announce this? They had the choice of continuing with the drill rig to completion or switching to a work over rig. they chose to go for the work over rig but mentioned nothing about having a choice of two rigs waiting to move on site. Perhaps I missed this - post the link? The fact that they decided to use a work over rig in the first place tells its own story. Work over rigs are generally only used as a last resort to get the hydrocarbons to flow - see my post 9708 above. | ![]() harrissen
