12/7/2021 13:53 | Yes we did a great job beating San Marino and Albania. | dodge_city
12/7/2021 13:47 | that much is true at least dodge_city 12 Jul '21 - 13:40 - 5515 of 5516 0 0 0 Saka is too young and too much pressure? Meanwhile 18 and 19 year olds have been on patrol in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's a professional footballer who gets paid more in a week than a soldier makes in a year. Let's get some perspective. | sentimental rules
12/7/2021 13:41 | England had an easy passage to the finals and had an easy passage in the finals. They are a bunch of overpaid fakers and finally got found out last night. | dodge_city

12/7/2021 12:09 | No, he doesn’t, in my opinion. He comes across as a decent person and appears to be a reasonable man-manager. But he is lacking in the ability to be a tactical coach, particularly at international level. He talks a good game and will never do or say anything to upset the Establishment. So it appears that we’re stuck with him for the foreseeable. We might have the occasional decent run in a tournament but if we really want to actually win something then it’s going to need a better and less cautious footballing brain to get the very best out of this group of “talented̶ | chopper harris1
12/7/2021 11:50 | not the time to talk politics. does southgate have the skills to setup a offensive team? can't remember him doing it but don't follow england that much. | mcbeanburger
12/7/2021 11:05 | the smashed penalties went in - the slow penalties weren't simply saying that though both penalties by kane and maquire were facking superb no keeper in the world would have stopped those | sentimental rules
12/7/2021 11:04 | "Rashford's penalty was decent" I was talking about last night's penalty, no idea what penalty you're talking about. | thailand
12/7/2021 10:48 | Rashford's penalty was decent, imho - beat the goalkeeper by keeping eyes on him and placing the ball the opposite side. Executed it wrongly - by just not looking at all where the ball was. A bit more care. But a far method than the last two that were too high and too saveable by the keeper - amateur penalties. But those are details - should not be relying on penalties. | imastu pidgitaswell
12/7/2021 10:32 | #5501 Also, what's the point of the thing if you're not playing attacking, entertaining, courageous football? This isn't about a Premier League team having to satisfy shareholders, it's about enjoyment and national pride in pushing and challenging the other side's goal. Or at least it should be. | bluemango
12/7/2021 10:31 | The standard of penalty taking in the tournament and generally is absolutely dire. Players seem to prefer to look cool, with their stupid stuttery run ups, scoring 4 times out of 10, than scoring 9 times out of 10, with a proper technique. Well, they think they look cool, Rashford's penalty was particularly ridiculous. | thailand
12/7/2021 10:31 | Taking players off the bench to take penalties that in a final is plainly stupid. They no feel for the ball. Just dropped into the biggest moment of theirs lives. It's a really bad idea. And he did it with two players. They're brave lads having a go and it's not their fault. Imo Southgate got it wrong big time and should turn down the knighthood. | thelongandtheshortandthetall
12/7/2021 10:23 | thought at the start with Kane and maquire's penalties they had really been practicing them. two very good penalties - then the last 3 came which were poor really | sentimental rules
12/7/2021 10:18 | Agree possession is key. you want players on the pitch that can play with possession. In England's case these players were on the bench(Grealish, sancho) most of this tournament and paid price eventually against a better technical team such as Italy. | 78steve
12/7/2021 10:11 | Attempting to, effectively, defend a one goal lead for 88 minutes against a team of Italy’s quality and guile. Instead of seizing the momentum and going for at least one other goal. Bringing on Henderson for Rice, who one of the few players willing to run with the ball at the opposition. Leaving the introduction of other, more attacking substitutes too late while we just invited the Italians on to us as we defended desperately. These are just some examples of Southgate’s lack of tactical nous and over-cautious approach to games. We have absolutely no chance of winning the World Cup next year. | chopper harris1
12/7/2021 09:52 | This thread is a perfect example of how a few anonymous posters on any form of social media can be complete bellends. There should be a simple rule, that would stop it immediately. Posters can only post under their real names. Speak next November, Brad! | jack jebb |
