Why are we discussing Bruce forsyth on an England football team forum?

(of course he is a nice guy - he's made me laugh through the years!)

Firstly, Bruce Forstyh is not a nice guy.

Secondly, who else is there? English players clearly dont respond to foreign coaches, when playing for England, and he can only work with the limited pool of talent he has. Boro werent full of world class players, then or now.

What Bruce Forsyth not a nice guy, the world is ending when people say hurtful things like that.

The talent of the squad is not bad we certainly underperform from our pool of talent that's for sure. There are managers out there that would makes us perform better than Southgate and that should be the FA's job of sourcing it. Not bumbling along from one mess to another.

Southgate needs to go and prove his metal not practice his talents or lack of talent in what should be the most high profile job in English football.

'More years of hurt.'

I think Nigel Farage would be a good manager. At least we wouldn't have the embarrassment of the Euros every 4 years.

English players do not respond to foreign coaches because they think they know better.

I'd like Southgate to be given a chance. He's English, a decent bloke, and what have we got to lose?

There are positive signs from his first 4 games. The end result today was largely irrelevant

Bruce Forsyth is a nice person shall we put him in charge? Come on Southgate's CV is hardly inspiring in positions where it matters. He took boro down then got sacked.

He has shown no qualities whatsoever to say that the FA should be even considering him for the role.

This is typical of an FA decision that is where the rot centres from. With Southgate in charge another 4 years + of sub standard performances.

They are reportedly looking to pay him (should he be sucessful) 2 milllion a year!!! ffs really. they should pay them fxxk all and the players should play for just the privilage of playing for their country.

we have very little quality so why do we expect anything. they should appoint southgate as it sums him up and his last managerial post at middlesbro qualifys him to manage these mediocre timewasters..IMHO

I'm warming to the guy and for the most part, the team played well tonight.

I'd like to see him flip the midfield V and a couple of our forward players: Sterling and Lingard have a lot of learning to do yet. Dier for me is very over-rated.

the best managers are not English, neither are the best footballers.the premiership is proof.so just accept that we are just not good enough and will never be again.more chance of south corea winning the world cup in the future than England.people lives are so sad to pay so much money for so little entertainment.

England routinely capitulate when put under pressure against anyone decent, such as Spain's B team.

Time Southgate went. Should be a crime impersonating an England football manager. One match in charge was one match too many in my opinion.

Come on charge him and off to jail for fraud.

And we can't win a match despite going into the 89th minute with a 2-0 lead. Same old, same old.

so the FA peasants seem poised to give the job to another FA YES man...

not Gareth Southgates fault , he is merely a pawn, the whole FA board should have gone after the Hodgson and Allardyce fiasco, but they clung to their jobs... not sure how.

Southgate is not the chap to take England forward, so we have another 4 years of mediocrity ahead.

Gareth Bale
Posted at 30 mins

The midfield may have been struggling but when you've got Gareth Bale in the team, who cares?

All credit to the patron Saint of Welsh lost causes, Hal Robson-Kanu, who chases an aimless ball and forces Matija Nastasic into an error and wins it back. He looks up, finds Bale on the edge of the area and his low shot is past Vlad Stojkovic and in before the keeper could even see it.

Actually, he nearly ran past the shot. I don't know what the keeper was up to there.

Wales lead!

Antonio Conte has had some impact on Nemanja Matic. He looked washed up at the back end of last season but he's been brilliant since Chelsea went to 3-4-3 and he's a presence in the midfield so far tonight. Joe Allen can't get near him.

Serbia are now running this show, first to every ball and putting plenty of crosses in towards Newcastle lighthouse Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Gareth Bale has barely been involved in the last 10 minutes.
