Scotland were the better team I thought.....but they cant score goals. A load of great chances ......hardly one on target. If Spain get that lot of chances next week....

So no one thinks we're going to win the world cup in 2018 then?

How can Southgate celebrate like that for goal 2 when England have been awful and could easily have been 3-1 down before scoring that goal. Clueless. Would be amazing if he got the job.

It looks like tickets are quite easy to come by for the game on Friday. That either means Wembley will be full of Jocks, as it used to be for the home nations, or people really dont care about the England football team anymore.

Frankly if the players dont care, why should the people, who actually pay money to watch, care?

Southgate is completely out of his depth as an international coach. He speaks a bit more nicely than most of the home-grown chavs that populate English football and that is all the FA seem to be interested in. The newish guy at the FA, Greg Clarke, appears to be no different from all the other clowns that have gone before him.

Southgate was a very mediocre club manager and has been an even more mediocre coach of the Under 21 squad. When are the FA going to learn that putting a semi articulate Englishman into a role in the England set-up doesn't mean you are going to groom him into a world-beating international coach. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Why can't people accept that our footballers are just over hyped and over rated. They really aren't that good.

As long as England best players confidence like Rashford and Defoe previously are undermined I do not think any of us will live long enough to win the European nations cup again let alone the world cup.RIP.

How about the best man for the job? Even Tony Pulis would get the defence organised and you might just nick a goal which perhaps would suit England? Mclaren dropped beckham. So he meant business? We saw how good he was in the end...

The England team visited an orphanage while in Slovenia today. It's so awful to see their sad little faces, said Slaven age 5.

Best Managers are clearly not English however international sport is one country vs a other so I think the manager should be of the same nationality as the team.

the best football managers are not English,in fact in nearly all sports.just accept this fact.if they are ignorant not to play Rashford from the start says it all.he is the brightest and most talented prospect that cannot be left on the sidelines.Pele played for Brazil at the age of 17 and terrorised defences.not dropping Rooney since the last two years is another shortsighted decision.he has been struggling and that is why United has too.

Southgate looks a limited manager. Alarm bells ringing loudly when he suggests that he inherited a mess. Poor managers blame external factors. Rodgers blamed losing suarez to the team's lack of goals. Klopp has had no problems there. Note: I don't recall Klopp ever blaming the previous regime. Dalglish was the same - although ultimately not successful in his second stint he always said that the buck stops with him. Southgate needs to understand the meaning of manager. Southgate has done nothing of note to deserve the position of england manager. Harry redknapp guided spurs to a top four finish in the prem and also reached the quarter finals of the champions league. The fa are at fault for not picking the best guy for the job. Pardew is probably the best candidate from a very limited bunch to choose from if redknapp is not selected.

We lost 4 nil tonight. Or we would have done if the other lot had had a bit of luck and an out of form Hart.

Mind you, we lost to Iceland so this is how good we are....not very.
