21/5/2004 17:10 | ....how much did `````yell` go for..? `bankrupt` British Energy, who last year were valued at £34m, are to `return` about £2bn to their `creditors` and all at the stroke of a pen...by revalueing assets. How much is Energis worth, it`s a bit like asking the value of Marks and Sparks or Sainbury`s at the present time ...both losing market share and and sliding...whereas once apon a time both these were untouchable market leaders. At the end of the day it`s all going to be down to fundamentals and if Archie Norman can drive up enough institutional interest with city sentiment behind him....he`s done it before...Asda is a case in point and going from strenght to strenght.....then maybe....just maybe. Personaly I would like Archie allow existing Energis shareholders to have an option/opportunity, to purchase new shares in the new company at a discount to the offer price... or even exchange their shares(plus a bit of cash even) on a pro rata basis( he did give the girls behind the tills at Tesco...free shares) in case the £1.8bn target is not achieved....this would offer some recourse. Lets be honest, without the original Energis investor...they wouldn`t be in this luctrative position.....and would be seen to be fair. | htrocka
21/5/2004 16:52 | Good afternoon Keep your chins up you never know. Regards Finmac | finmac
18/5/2004 08:24 | when was the last time you saw a company floated at more than 1.8 billion ?. think i agree, we will get nowt ! | rmart
16/5/2004 22:55 | That is what i mean 1.8 billion = we get nothing. | wayneb
16/5/2004 22:21 | Energis will get 17.5 mln stg 'A' preferred shares in Chelys, 55 pct of its ordinary shares and a right equivalent to 7.5 pct of the excess value of Chelys over 1.8 bln stg if it is sold or floated in the next 7 years. The shares received by Energis are expected to go to bondholders, who are owed some 560 mln stg by the company. Energis shareholders stand to benefit if the company is sold or floated at a value of more than 1.8 bln stg. | philj100

16/5/2004 21:56 | 1.8 billion | wayneb
16/5/2004 18:19 | oh well we may get a little back after all. I think they will want to float for as much as possible. Anyone got any idea of it's floatation value ? | rmart
16/5/2004 18:07 | ....about £250m....hope they leave some for us poor old Energis sharehlders.....the article goes on...`Energis has restructured it`s financial commitments and signed a host of deals to provide telephony and internet services to blue chip companies since it`s aquisition by Cheyls, a shell company owned by Energis`s bankers, in July 2002. In march it said it had been shortlisted to win a major slice of of the governments £1bn project to extend broadband access across the UK........ending with a small but very important piece...Norman also acts as an adviser to investment bankers Lazard`......I wonder if Lazard also have an interest in Cheyls..? they look like the bankers that are to re-float the company...no doubt the brand name ie, Energis will remain... | htrocka
16/5/2004 17:31 | Well Well, what a great turnround for a dead company. All the new contracts the so called new Energis have won were already in the bag when it was ENERGIS PLC,so what has Pluthero and his team done,no dout Norman and his gang will come out of this with millions of pounds in their pockets | wayneb
16/5/2004 11:37 | Subject: 16/5/04 NORMAN PREPARES FOR ENERGIS FLOAT BY THE END OF 2005 In an exclusive interview with the Financial Sunday Express, Norman - the Conservative MP for Tunbridge Wells commented :- "It is a stranger-than-fictio "The great joy of running a private company is you can take decisions at the rigt pace in conjunction with your investors." | robin godfrey
16/5/2004 10:50 | Report in sunday express saying Energis plans to float within next 2 years. | philj100
15/5/2004 09:15 | just a quick one...Energis were `taken over` during the deepest period of the recession, ie, when companies such as THUS were trading around the 6p area, Colt, 33p, (nearly half it`s rights issue price),..being in the same sector and contempories of Energis, both these companies have since quadrupled in valuation since the dark days of 2002......any one would like to estimate what Cheyls would be valued at today...? (include potential prosects in the vauation...and also that we are heading for global growth).. | htrocka
15/5/2004 09:15 | ....Energis is now a major competitor to the mighty Cable and Wireless...who are also pulling themselves out of the mire...and rumoured to return to paying dividends shortly..Undoubtedly all the `alternative` communication sector went through a very bad patch but most are themselves pulling back into profitability... BT are now trying to move into this sector....this still must be a great, growth.potential business to be in. | htrocka
14/5/2004 22:35 | Good evening all, Threads continue as long as interest in the subject remains. There is still a great deal of justified interest in Energis. There are many reasons for this of which the administrators' report, the litigation over the purchase of ISION, the deferred consideration for former shareholders, the progress of the 'phoenix', Chelys, are but examples. The number of posts so far, and the continued posting, show that this one will not go away however hard some try to bury it. ADRIAN TURNER | adrian turner
14/5/2004 15:16 | Never mind that, what's been gained by all this talk?? Close it I say and get a life. Bully | bullishbuyer
14/5/2004 09:59 | I always suspect motives when someone advocates closing a source of information for Energis shareholders. Who is Bullishbuyer and why does he want the thread closed? | babhere
14/5/2004 08:40 | One would expect a statement like that ? From someone who champions LLOY . Another load of money grabbing Bar stewards . | gerry2
14/5/2004 08:16 | Time to close this thread Finmac. It's all been said and done and the result is.............Naff All! Bully | bullishbuyer
13/5/2004 14:38 | Good afternoon also to you, Agincourt, I tried the link. Energis shares are indeed worthless, save for the deferred consideration which may or may not have a value. Time (and pressure) will tell. I am afraid I cannot help regarding UBS. Perhaps somebody else can suggest a connection. ADRIAN TURNER I have no idea. Perhaps JakNife knows the answer. | agincourt
13/5/2004 14:24 | Bottom line is what is the chance of us shareholders ever seeing anything again?? | m80rcs
12/5/2004 08:18 | Gosh this is a vibrant thread! You all seem to be arguing over a saucer of milk that was split, cleaned up and then replaced months ago. I'm just your average Joe so I can't speak with authority but JakNife is very good at giving the naked truth.....however hideous. Those who don't agree with him, try putting your hopes and wishes to one side and ask yourself, 'am I sure I am right on this one'? Bully | bullishbuyer
10/5/2004 08:28 | jacknife The bonds where junk status trading at about 10/12% of face value, so therefore should have declined in investment value has did the shares. The bond holders who presumably used the same investing principal as shareholders should also have stood the loss.Your 560 million was only worth about 60 million.
