No, I won't - it was the right thing to do and £2 is a pretty good result after these awful results put out on 31 December. Never trust a management team that try and bury dismal reports at this time of year. I regret not selling out in the £4 zone, to be honest. Its been a car crash for a couple of years now and I need to improve my sell discipline on winners that go wrong! For me the real sell signal is caused primarily by pulling the dividend even though they have been profitable and have a large cash balance. That is a vey bearish signal and is more important than the vaguely upbeat noises that you can't really trust them on anyway, given their past comments! This will be a 3 year recovery play now. The only near term upside is the potential for a bid. Probably worth £200-250m, but that's unlikely until the ASF position improves. Anyway, will keep watching. I would buy for recovery at a sub-£100m valuation possibly but I would like management changes. However, I am not sure that I trust management and particularly the CEO. It's obvious why the new Chairman left after 6m now - he gave lots of comments about improving corporate governance, only to find out a few week's later that his lovely glossy annual report was materially incorrect on all the numbers! Peter Lawrence was more trustworthy in my view. I should have sold when he left abruptly! Anyway, a good learning point for me and will try and work it into my investment process for 2020 as this has happened on Fulcrum and ECO Animal Health in 2019 and I shouldn't have let it!

Well I'm out, reluctantly. The smart money exited at £6. Easy to see out of the rear view window! The accounts are a disaster zone if you ask me. They haven't taken a bad debt provision on the extended debtor book in China yet! It looks like peak profitability is more like 10p than 20p. Dividend deferral was the last straw. Doubled my money, but should have been more disciplined and sold it much earlier. It's obviously a bid target. I may buy back again, but not at the existing price!

The big issues with these results are the: 1) collapse in sales in China, which was expected, along with the continuing increase in trade receivables 19.8m (15m)which is very unwelcome. Yes Eco has a cash balance but its not going to be used to pay special divs anymore. At the AGM Ceo said that the increase in receivables in China was because Eco was offering favourable terms to customers rather than cutting them off. For a very small company with one product this is a very dangerous position, big competitors with deeper pockets, such as Elanco, will weather this much better 2) The decline in US was not predicted and is v worrying. "North American revenue declined by 21% reflecting both a highly competitive domestic market in the face of increased pork production numbers and the loss of the Chinese export market leading to an excess of pork supply. Meaningful discounts were offered to major pork producers to retain existing business and these discounts have resulted in a significant reduction in average gross margins in 2019". Its predicted that ASF in china will impact for many years so any comments about recovery there by Eco should be taken with a large pinch of salt. The bad news could continue for a number of years. On the positive front, there is though a floor under this shares price. Clearly the Lawrence family want out and a bidder will be eyeing Eco up.

Pug, thanks for your thoughts. The abolition of the divi never sits well with investors. Apart from that it seems a reasonably cheery update but with a lot of hope in it. I expect an initial fall then perhaps a recovery intra-day as a not as bad as expected relief rally comes.

"The Directors remain confident and excited about the improving market conditions and future prospects for the business." https://www.investegate.co.uk/eco-animal-health-gp--eah-/rns/half-year-report/201912310700043250Y/ However half year profit of only of only £1 million and half year eps 1.51p say 3p annualised very high for a market cap of £145M unless very very significant recovery and improvement likely - Report unfortunately for me does not give clear message that this is probable in the mid future - Other views?

I can understand why you did what you did Mach100, although my reading of the latest news items is that Japan does not have ASF but does have classical swine virus. That said I am not buying more and if it does make its way to the Americas I hesitate to think what will happen to the share price. Still perplexed that ANP share price is unmoved by all of this.

Mach100 - Very wise (imo) though your sale looks as though being marked as a buy - If so then most of todays "buys are in fact sales" Looks as though an II may have lost their marbles - anyway not their money - Still to high possible forward p/e for me - Gut feel suggests 175/185 more of a target area but what do I (or the analysts) know!! Happy Christmas everyone !!

Pig flu outbreaks now too in quite a few prefectures in Japan. I decided to bale this morning as I see limited upside and fairly large downside if trading further deteriorates. Has been a very poor investment for me and I am guilty of hanging on too long for a turnaround that has shown no sign of coming about.

You are right PUGUGLY to highlight this. That said the key is that it is kept out of the Americas. I have read various articles about the world wide effect of ASF in China and the impact it is having on meat protein prices. This is just one such article and in theory while demand in China and neighbouring countries is being hit this will be to some extent counterbalanced by demand in other areas. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2019/12/20/african-swine-flu-epidemic-could-improve-us-china-trade-relations/

PUGUGLY Interesting point on patent longevity in your 1082 and I have made a note to ask at the next AGM. Let's hope I remember. Your points in 1083 are very fair and you are right that there are dark clouds. Hopefully the world wide increase in meat protein prices and demand will feed through to EAH. I need to say I am confused with the current tariff situation with tariffs charged by China on US Pig imports as I thought I had read that China had lifted them but could not find any corroboration on that.

Surprised this has not fallen this morning as the jump in sterling after the election will reduce the sterling profits given the high proportion of overseas revenue and chinese pig herd still suffering from ASF. - PLUS situation still not yet under control and spreading to other regions and countries see. http://www.fao.org/ag/againfo/programmes/en/empres/ASF/situation_update.html

PH Joint broker so (imo) has to use rose tinted glasses - Still too many negatives with ASF rampant and seems to be spreading - Also In the UK a patent can last for 20 years from the point of filing for the patent https://www.anthonyjones.com/patent-an-idea/ and Filed: June 30, 2006 https://patents.justia.com/assignee/eco-animal-health-ltd So e&oe Just over 6 years left unexpired before generic competition can kick in UNLESS further and later patents exist for new improved formulations - Just initial digging but looks as though the timeline may be running down fairly quickly Thoughts/knowledge?

I was looking at buying more a couple of days back and it appears that Standard Aberdeen have stopped selling for now which explains the slight recovery. Looking at the 4 RNS issued last week not clear who has been selling apart from Canaccord who went down from 5.1 to 4.8pc and Danske and Axa seemed to have increased. Blackrock opaque as they say they are under 5% which they were before. Volume declining from last week with 1.7m shares traded on Nov 11.
