Encouraging trading statement out this morning, with the key summary that

“Group revenue and EBITDA for year ending 31 March 2021 expected to be significantly ahead of market expectations and prior year.”

Some positive news. Articles are saying that China's herd levels are almost back up to pre-ASF levels already. Numbers were at 90% of pre-ASF levels as of Nov 30. If the current trend continues, full recovery should happen in the first half of 2021.

I suspect that the pull back in share price is due to short term punters buying in anticipation of the results, who wanted/needed to sell rather than wait for January (or later).
I'm long term.

A bit of the Boris Johnson syndrome here.
The way I read the November 24 RNS they were pretty clear that we would have the results by year end. Now we are told that they believe that they will be ready in January. I guess the shares will be suspended till the interims -due by year end-are published unless they get a waiver for that.
I currently see the suspension as being inconvenient rather than the end of the world.
I first came a shareholder in July 23018 so do not have the historical perspective as others have as to how we have got in this mess.

This is what comes out of using Kreston Reeves LLP as an auditor of a complex group of this size. All looks a bit of a mess.

The delay was probably inevitable - once a previous mistake is uncovered the new auditors won't put their name to anything unless they've checked every last detail and that's going to take time at the moment given the geographic spread. It's not great it's happened but hopefully it would take some pretty horrendous discoveries (no indication of that has been given) to counter the performance that's been indicated for last year and H1 this year. Should hopefully re-rate to closer where it should be once that's all out. I've more cash on hand than last time it was down at this level so have used it as an opportunity to top up quite significantly. Will do so again if it goes even further in the next few days.

Woops - Suspension from 4th January - OK Covid delays but could it be that r Market is worried about what may be uncovered during the new auditors review of prior accounts? Down 14% at time of posting to 230/242

The forecasts I have are FY20 eps 6.4p, FY21 eps 9.5p, FY22 eps 11p, with revenue of £70.9m, £77.3m and £83.8m for those respective years . Not surprised its down, as investors fear the worst when companies keep delaying results and the PR/management should be shot for releasing this news at 16.35. Its just a cheap thing to do and pointless.

Cerrito - yes it is p*ss poor that these result have been delayed again, but with travel restrictions in China and elsewhere, plus a new auditor who will have binned everything the previous one had done and started afresh, it doesn't surprise me. The end game Lawrance family was always to sell out to big pharma at some point.

The fact that they will need 8 months + to prepare their accounts even with Covid is pretty poor and gives a bad impression. I cannot recall any other company I have shares in needing such a long delay. No idea how much the new auditor BDO is to blame. Perhaps we will get the September interims before the March finals.
Once again they talk about market expectations without specifying what they understand these to be. My reading is that for the current FY the forecast is 9.54p eps up from the forecast of 7.8p for the last FY, but well down from that for 2017,18 and 19, Do any of you have an understanding of this??
I assume these come from N+! Singer and Friedlander and perhaps Peel Hunt.
AFS would appear to be less of an issue. See

Incidentally, I transcribe something I posted on the ANP site yesterday which is also relevant to EAH.

Thought on ANP this morning when I read a piece in the FT of the formation of
Investor Action on Antimicrobial Resistance which is backed by institutional investors with U$7tn under management to reduce use of antibiotics everywhere including food production.

While the immediate impact on the ANP bottom line will I assume be muted, it all helps.

A few people are buying successfully, smithless, so if you persevere I hope for you that you are too. The shares are clearly cheap st this level.

Hi all,

My mate Peter @Conkers3 and myself did a ‘Twin Petes Investing’ Podcast a few days ago and part of our discussion includes EAH. We also chatted about loads of other Stocks and Ideas for research, and the outlook for Markets and as usual a fair bit of educational stuff with regards to Investing which this week included the concept of ‘Badwill’ and a lot on how we seek out ‘under the radar’ stocks.

Anyway, if you use Apple, Audioboom, Overcast or Spotify you can find it under the 'Conkers Corner' Channel (you want Podcast TPI 34) and you can find it on Soundcloud at the link below.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful,

Cheers, WD

Overall an upbeat release and good to hear that the strong performance from the first two months continued into the next four. Agree that some more clarity on R&D being fully kickstarted again would have been nice but might not be a bad thing to be cautious given the unpredictables in the ASF/Covid situations. Don't want to be diluted by a placing at these prices. Given the volume the rise today was a little surpressed - could be that Liontrust or another big holder isn't quite done selling yet. Might be another chance to top up again before more concrete results in Nov but overall still pretty happy that I took chances to increase my holding a few times over in recent months!

Good news on Revenue, would have liked a profit / EBITDA indicator. No doubt an uptick an the plateau until end Nov

In all the generally good news, I note that they are restricting their R&D budget because of desire to conserve cash at a time that they are saying how important R&D is.
This suggests that we may need to be patient with dividends.
I remind myself of the June TU where they explained that more than half of their net cash was in the 51% owned Chinese sub and a chunk in other overseas operations.
