26/7/2007 07:47 | Igoe - I like the references to China Mobile, with whom EBT has a trading agreement. "The leading mobile carrier, China Mobile has conducted tests for 3G and 3.5G and is ready to launch the services." and "The two leading mobile carriers, China Mobile and China Unicom are engaged in fierce competition and are focusing on variety of services to increase their subscriber base. Both carriers are planning to introduce more dual-mode (GSM-GSM, CDMA-GSM) handsets in the market" This must be good business for EBT, operating outlets in a number of China Mobile centres. If you recall, the last trading update mentioned that revenues were in line with expectations, but constrained pending the launch of new handsets. Looks as if the arrival of new handsets is imminent. | silverthread

24/7/2007 11:02 | THIS WAS THE LAST WRITE UP ON THE COMPANY, things seem positive. 21.05.07 :+0.75, (26.5) the group published an upbeat AGM statement, prompting Panmure Gordon to repeat its 'buy' stance on the stock, dealers said. EBT Mobile said it remains confident of meeting expectations for 2007 and that it is well placed to deliver on its plan for growth and earnings by leveraging the existing and growing retail distribution platform. The company said it has opened 49 stores since Jan 1, adding that it adjusted its internal systems and procedures to enhance margins and profits and that the new systems are starting to show positive results. In reaction, Panmure Gordon said it remained a buyer with a 40 pence target price, noting that while the AGM statement did not contain any new news, it summarised the strong progress over the last year. The broker said the statement reiterated the group's focus on enhancing profitability and sales after aggressively building its sales platform. Panmure added that it sees EBT Mobile as an excellent opportunity for investors to build a position in the largest mobile phone market in the world. | igoe104
24/7/2007 10:58 | I sure they will eventually. with it being a fairly early stage chinese company, they are watching devlopments and adding along the way. as we know there are lots of new products coming out soon, so i expect alot of repeat business as well as alot of new business. | igoe104
24/7/2007 10:47 | i wonder who's reading this bb then ... ;-) | explorer88
24/7/2007 10:43 | If i was in their position, and knowing EBT's potential, i'd try and take the company private (at say £70m m/c now - or higher value later as news of increasing t/o and profitability comes in) with a view to doing a few things and then selling on (to someone like Carphone Warehouse) in 2-3 years time at £250m + | explorer88
24/7/2007 10:10 | igoe - thought this might interest you... Audley European Opportunities Fund Limited is an advanced stage shareholder activist fund, co-founded by UK activist pioneer Julian Treger and private equity investor Michael Treichl. The Fund invests substantially all its assets in Audley European Opportunities Master Fund Limited whose objective is to invest in the equities of a limited number of publicly traded UK and European companies in the small and mid-cap sector, in a wide range of industries, and subsequently use its ownership to either drive an operational and/or financial restructuring or effect a "going private" leveraged recapitalization or similar transaction. For more information on the Fund, contact Jolie von Arnim, Head of Marketing, jvonarnim@audleycapi | explorer88

23/7/2007 15:28 | mark_jm, i presume igoe means biggest *independent*, 'high street' retailer in china, though i haven't checked this myself .. | cordwainer
23/7/2007 12:06 | hello igoe - thanks for suggesting ccgp (as you can tell from other BB's i'm looking round for opportunities to invest significant funds from UBQ and, shortly, SRF takeovers). With profits forecast to increase from £2m this year to over £3m next year, ccgp may meet my growth requirements. with mc in excess of £40m may not meet my value criteria - will keep an eye on though, just in case it falls back over the summer. off topic again : i've had a little more info. on SAT today but have NOT yet been able to confirm info. through other channels (feb. visitors to sft office, google.cn searches, translations from chinatax.gov.cn etc.) - wish i could find someone who has contact at SAIC (who i understand have also been affected in the same way as SAT and a couple of other state departments this month) who might be able to independently verify the info. | explorer88
23/7/2007 10:34 | off topic. explorer if you want an interesting company to invest into, take alook at ccgp. health-care market is a growing market with folks living older and older, also old people hate living in nursing homes, and would prefer homecare. i feel ccgp have a great future. | igoe104
23/7/2007 09:28 | morning igoe 950,000 X trade at 24.5. interesting. | explorer88
23/7/2007 08:13 | LOOKS like our internet rivals are struggling, which is good news for chinese mobile retailers. Tom Online Inc. (TOMO) is scheduled to announce second-quarter earnings before market open on Monday. Tom Online has already warned investors that its wireless business, which was responsible for more than 90% of the company's revenue last quarter, will have been hurt by China Mobile Ltd.'s (CHL) data fee notification policy that went into affect May 17. The line of business most affected will be Tom Online's WAP offering, which generated approximately $5.3 million in revenue in the first quarter. Tom Online is the first major wireless company to announce earnings following the implementation of China Mobile's decision to warn users that they are paying to access Web sites via their mobile phones. KongZhong Corp. (KONG) is the only other U.S.-listed company that might be hurt more than Tom Online by China Mobile's decision to scare mobile phone users who pay for third-party data. | igoe104
23/7/2007 08:07 | all AIM companies S/P ARE GOING DOWN, if they haven,t had any news recently, its just that time of year. Its a good buying opportunity, more than anything else at the moment. | igoe104
23/7/2007 07:59 | mmmmmmm if the market thought that wouldnt EBT be a take over target ? At the moment the market is sending the share price down, so I wonder what info there is that isnt freely available? I await the update with intrigue? | mark_jm
22/7/2007 17:29 | The company is in the growing stage at the moment with around 250 outlets at the moment. with-in the next two years i expect 500 plus. so turnover will increase rapidly in the medium term. also only about 30% of chinese at the moment have phones, it is thought that that will increase to over billion chinese mobile phone users over the next few years. So you have to ask yourself will the biggest retailer in china, who sells the best mobile products, in the best locations, will not do well in the next few years ? | igoe104
22/7/2007 16:11 | HOW CAN THEY BE THE BIGGEST RETAILER OF MOBILES IN THE WORLDS BIGGEST MARKET WITH A TURNOVER OF £32.4M???? THATS TINY IN MY BOOK. There are so many contradicting views on this company. I see the delay in posting half year, as buying time before bad news is relaesed. Personally I think this is becoming a risky company. | mark_jm
22/7/2007 11:00 | tyranosauros remind me not to look at numbers when Im hungover..... | anusol |
