10/6/2018 20:24 | Sunday Telegraph....... The British appetite for takeaway pizza shows no sign of slowing down, says James Ashton in the Sunday Telegraph’s Questor column. Ironically the World Cup football tournament will only serve to boost sales with households ordering more stodge to crowd around television sets. Since Domino's listed in 1999 shares have been a one-way bet. However sales growth has been slowing, while deals to create a European network are likely to eat a lot of resources and management time. Domino’s chief executive David Wild is planning around 80 stores openings a year, and the chain is likely to benefit from the decline in mid-market chain restaurants – ordering pizza tends to be cheaper than eating out. But can the growth of the last few years really be replicated? Questor points out that shares are currently trading at 21 times next year’s forecast earnings, which is below a historical average of 24 times. It adds: ‘But Questor doesn’t think the future will be as tasty as the past, no matter how many goals the England team score’. Hold, it suggests. | philanderer | |
