08/3/2018 11:53 | I agree with Hybrasil - fair results. There is the general problem of over supply in the restaurant and pub food market, plus the competition, especially in London, from people like Just Eat. The Brexit worry and a fragile economy doesn't really help, either. The splitting of store territories makes some people worry - I tend to think that David Wild knows what he is doing and this will come good, but the idea of extra stores and smaller territories is superficially frightening. It probably needs another year yet to show results - we should then see a more stable UK situation and, hopefully, some income from other countries especially Germany. | huttonr

31/1/2018 09:22 | Hargreaves hungry for more Domino’s gains Hargreaves Lansdown fund manager Steve Clayton is encouraged by Domino’s Pizza’s (DOM) update, believing it shows there is ‘clearly momentum’ in the business. Clayton, who holds the takeaway pizza group in his HL Select UK Shares and UK income funds, cited 2017 profits expected to be ahead of market expectations. ‘It’s a strong end to the year, and the group now needs to show a similarly strong first quarter, where it is up against easy comparatives for last year,’ he said. ‘Domino’ ‘All the signs are encouraging and there is clearly momentum in the business.’ He added that Europe was starting to deliver ‘scale benefits’ and the UK is ‘firing on all cylinders’ meaning the outlook is positive. ‘We hold Domino’s in both of the HL Select funds because of its capital-light business model, where franchisees put up most of the investment needed by the chain, leading to strong cashflows and excellent dividend paying potential,’ said Clayton. The shares jumped 1.6% to 356.1p yesterday. | philanderer
