28/2/2013 23:20 | Daily Mail: MARKET REPORT: Slice of success with Domino's If entrepreneur Nigel Wray, once described as Britain's Warren Buffett, was now asked to name his best ever investment he would surely have to say Domino's Pizza. He had already sold about £100million worth of stock before yesterday's news that he trousered a further £29.4million by slicing his stake to just under 3 per cent by selling a further 5.67million shares at 518p a pop. Wray invested in Domino's a couple of years before its stockmarket flotation in 1999 at 50p. The company then had a market capitalisation of £25million, which 14 years later now stands at a mouthwatering £879million. Wray remains chairman of thriving Premiership Rugby club Saracens which recently moved into its newly-renovated stadium at Allianz Park in Barnet. Perhaps fresh money received from his Domino's sale will now be invested into further improving facilities at the venue. Domino's shares sizzled 18p higher to 536p despite Wray's sales, but some analysts have become more cautious on the group's short to medium-term prospects. Domino's, which sponsored celebrity diving programme 'Splash' and sells 61million pizzas a year, recently reported record results, showing pre-tax profits 10.8 per cent higher at £46.7million. Yet current trading has slowed. Like-for-like sales growth in the fourth quarter of 2012 of 5 per cent slowed to only 1.6 per cent in the first seven weeks of 2013. Although the company blamed adverse weather conditions, analysts at Canaccord Genuity say past experience suggests that snow has played to the strengths of Domino's model. The broker believes the valuation is up with events. | philanderer
28/2/2013 12:14 | Alphaville mention... Domino's Pizza Group PLC (DOM:LSE): Last: 534.50, up 15.5 (+2.99%), High: 538.73, Low: 518.00, Volume: 14.59m BE A proper British (American franchising) success story. BE News today is that Nigel Wray's slotted another 5.68m shares. BE Nigel got in on the ground floor, I think, pre IPO. BE And, over the past three years, has sold 20m shares by my reckoning. BE Raising ballpark £100m. Decent return from mediocre pizzas. BE Hemsley, the ex CEO and now non-exec chairman, also sold 1.8m today. PM Goodness - 100m? PM This is the Nigel Wray that spent so many years amongst the penny dreadfuls BE That's off the cuff maths. Margin of error's about 20% either way. BE Profile of Mr Wray here. Quite an uncritical one: PM BE Anyway, overhang removed hence rally. | philanderer

27/2/2013 20:24 | Dagy, you wouldn`t even have to hold them that long. DOM goes xd at the open on wednesday 13th march. As long as you have bought your shares before close of business on tuesday 12th march, you can sell them any time after the market opens on wednesday 13th march and qualify for the dividend. The record date is just that , it shows the record of who was holding how many shares at the close of business on the 12th march just before the shares go xd. | philanderer
27/2/2013 13:39 | Would u still be qualified for a dividend pay out, if you buy just before the ex-dividend date and hold till the record date? | dagymclovin
