I would rather they hurt the shorters financially by simply & unambiguously demonstrating continuing robustness of the business model, including sustainability of income flows & dividends over the medium term.

The company needs to launch legal action against the short selling hedge funds on the basis of insider trading and market manipulation.
DEC would win IMO.
The evidence is damning.

The writer's conclusion (with some obvious caveats) is that no, it's not 'stuck in a doom loop'.

From S&P Global Commodity Insights:

"Global gas demand is set to grow by 2.5% year on year in 2024 to about 4.19 Tcm, the International Energy Agency said Jan. 26, with lower prices expected to contribute to recovery in consumption.
In its first-quarter gas market report, the IEA said demand growth was expected to be concentrated in fast-growing markets in Asia Pacific and gas-rich countries in Africa and the Middle East.
However, it said demand growth in key markets in Asia and Europe would be capped by the limited increase in global LNG supply, which is expected to grow by only 3.5%.

It also warned that its 2024 forecast came with an "unusually wide" range of uncertainty.

"Potential start-up delays at new liquefaction plants, a tense geopolitical context, worsening feed gas issues at specific legacy projects and risks related to shipping all represent downward risks to the current outlook," it said."

They won't make anything unless they close in time to avoid some potentially hefty margin calls and liabilities for dividend payments.

Closed almost at par in London down less than half a percent on the day at the LSE close.

Rising now right on queue in New York post the LSE close.

The usual price action with the shorters unable to keep this down for long and playing a dangerous game as the TU gets closer and closer, not to mention the 87.5c dividend which they will have to pay.

The market will be looking for, above all, clarity and credibility. Much of the recent turbulence has been exploited using perceived uncertainty.

No doubt the shorters will try to turn white into black no matter what the TU says, that's if they don't close out in time while they still have the chance. Their scare tactics to support their shorts are beginning to wear a bit thin now however.

my position is dec very long
but
i comment neutral imho regardless of my position
----------------

by the shorts not closing just a day before confirmation all is ok, which was previously re-confirmed by 2 RNSs i expect they /they includes dec unfortunately/ will hit again with something

otherwise it makes no sense. they are extremely smart outfits which got rich by doing non usual things against perceived logic by most

what many fail to understand is that in short term reality does not matter in most cases. perceived reality does.
and that is the arbitrage i try to explore by buying dec
------
i will be adding some more

Probably doesn’t matter if there’s anything in it for the bears, they seem to be quite adept at creating their own versions of events without deferring to facts, truth or honesty.

Good morning Gentlemen, Is it possible when the TU is issued, there will be something for both bull and bear camps?

It's not hard to work out your position

Maybe the shorters are scaremongering and any still holding when the imminent trading update comes out are going to get some rather large margin calls.

Maybe the shorters are correct and DEC is built in lies and fact numbers, bigger public companies have got away with it in the past just look at Enron

Only 2 days left at the most for shorters to close ahead of the trading update.

@Papillion, compare DEC to many other O&G producers and you'll see a similar decline. Very out of fashion sector obviously.
