Analysts all over the place at the moment over earnings figures. The forecast was for 3% they came in at 2.8% the same as last time!

The £ was up against the dollar prior to the release now falling.

Finally some good news which should help retailers...wages to outstrip inflation as burden eases on household income. M&S had good day yesterday and today looks like our turn. Onwards and upwards

Average earnings figures just released and they came in less than forecast at 2.8 %.

This is further bad news for retailers, there was a hope average earnings would boost spending power.

Robot I see nothing

😂 you are so funny. “Good flight their”

Now you’re pretending you’re a politician?, one who can’t spell! One who can afford to fly to London? Yeh right.

Have you seen the film about Walter Mitty?

Sad about the jobs loss at Toys-for-us
I hope they all find jobs.

Really? You talk down constantly almost obsessively Debenhams in the hope that it goes bust and you move on to your next shorting victim.
You are a boil on the body of capitalism waiting to erupt at any time with all the puss that comes out of your mouth. You are one sad person.

Debenhams will triumph either alone or being taken over but it will not go your way. That you can be sure off.

I believe Debs are worth investing in ,but it is your own personal choice ,them that have money to buy shares that is .You know who you are.
I do have enough money if I loose my stake in Debs ,but I doubt this will ever happen

auson1,

I don't disagree with your take on the shorts or shorting in general.

debsdowner,

Total short positions were 18.48% at the end on March down from 21.35% end of Jan

The shorts here are already well in the money and will just be waiting for the opportune moment to close. Take their money and on to the Next (or M&S) why would they hold for years and years ( paying out the large dividend and interest for the short ) just to make a little bit more. Returns diminish as the share price gets cheaper.

I would think as a shorter you might know this.

Looking forward to your comments on Thursday.

Kleeneze finished job losses announced there will be thousands more door to door sellers lose their part time earnings as well.

Betterware also goes the same way as I indicated it would follow last week.

edit:

As well as a few hundred job losses at both Kleeneze and Betterware, warehouse staff will lose their jobs as well.

Both companies had 9,000 part time business catalogue self employed distributers as well, all will lose their income.

Shorttracker is only an indicative site they do not show a declaration under 0.5%.

Other analysts have placed shorts at circa 20% on various occasions but the news feed will take too much trouble to find.

The share price speaks for itself as niggle has said a minor short position wound down yet share price falls.

Impossible for the second half to be better as it excludes Black Friday & Christmas!

Some posters haven't a clue about the company.

Share price fallen again pending results with only 2 full trading days left.

Doesn't look good for any decent bounce now. That being the case the share price could breach below 20 pence before results day.

Shorts closing must be good news on the way.

Shorts now at 14.07%

Shorters doomed to failure.

With the weather getting better, retail sales will pick up making up for the 6% decline. Huge pressure on retail? absolutely, but the fittest will survive. I think the bad news re Debenhams is out in the open. All those waiting with abated breath for that famous media catch phrase U-turn are going to be disappointed. Onwards and upwards. Better second half on the way. Buy on any weakness as I will certainly be doing.
No advice intended

EssentailInvestor. I am in no way trying to make any difference to the share price That would be impossible.

You do know that right? or do you think all the institutions hang on our every word? anonymous posters on a bulletin board!

I am simply speculating - one must!

I'm not sure that simply reposting faux positivity over and over again will help. It might sate your desperate need but it doesn't fool anyone.

Asos now down 21% from its recent peak on widely reported general fall in online sales despite forecasting higher profits. It's on an ahem... PE of 78! - if profits stayed the same and its PE matched M&S then the share price would be £5.50 not £61
