Bear in mind I was paying 60% less than most guys with similar turnover for 7 years. Sometimes better to let landlord feel he has got one over on you???😂€514;😂

You agreed to pay increased retail rents - in the greatest buyers market ever for shop premises ?

The only thing we could learn from that is you cannot negotiate - a bit like Treason May suggesting we watch and learn....

Walked past some prime retail premises today - 9 out of 15 empty vacated by the likes of HMV , H&M and Starbucks.....

So do you think the remaining 6 will be negotiating a rent increase ?

Being a retail landlord will be a nightmare right now - either they will have voids , near voids or rent reductions and for everyone that does not have a reduction already they should just warn that since the shops around them already have - they cannot compete and will have to consider liquidation.....

Or did you make the mistake of not trading as a Limited company or personally guaranteeing the lease - and expect anyone to learn from you ?
