12/11/2016 10:04 | Well done you - totally disproves that old stockmarket shibboleth "Never average down". I too ignore that one - actually ignore most rules. If it feels right for you - DO IT! Love vintage port - but a very occasional LBV is my treat. Out here in France you can only find Tawny or Ruby - and pretty basic stuff it is. Port is a Brit thing; and of course all the great producers are Brit owned. | skyship
11/11/2016 13:39 | dividend received and set to be reinvested...not that this is exactly a high dividend yield share.... | trytotakeiteasy
11/11/2016 13:21 | Probably not far off the mark. It will certainly be well above £56,that's all I can predict! Get your divvy today TTTE? R. | retsius
11/11/2016 12:14 | any guesses for September NAV out there.... I am going for £89 a share...... slightly down on the £90.8 at March 2016. | trytotakeiteasy
10/11/2016 17:10 | EJ - "I am back on track with an average compound growth for portfolio as a whole of 12% based on 35 years investing. Last year I went backwards with a drop of 5% but the year before up 67%. Currently I am up this year 2.27%." That 2014 performance is quite remarkable considering the UK indices closed the year with the FTSE100 down 2.7%; the FTSE 250 up 0.9% and AIM down a very disappointing 17.5%. What put you on that roll? You must have been very active; or else had a significant allocation to one great winner. I have a very similar long-term performance at +12.5%pa, though unfortunately only stretching back to 2001 when I took control of my pension, so missed out on the great 1980-2001 Bull Market. 2016 has been kind (up c16% YTD) due to a major allocation to the Private Equity sector. My few property holdings have disappointed somewhat; but today’s news on LSR suggests there may be a reward approaching there at least. 09/11/2016 09:12 | surprising as I expected it to decline. Short-term stocks are unpredictable. Property should be a safe having in uncertain times I guess and Daejan has low gearing. | trytotakeiteasy
09/11/2016 09:02 | Up today. Any views? R. | retsius
04/11/2016 18:26 | Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences, much appreciated. | tintin82
03/11/2016 21:09 | Erogenous. Just out of curiosity where do you pick up your investment ideas? Do you have time to sift through all the rns / news daily? I subscribe to IC but have been underwhelmed with their tips for years, although I find it a good rag for a round up of the news and starting point for investment ideas. | tintin82
03/11/2016 16:09 | Erogenous - The IC just has lots of journalists who get suckered into stories. Also there is no overall investment policy or approach. It is just what an individual journalist think sounds good. | trytotakeiteasy
03/11/2016 11:31 | retsius - I am also guessing it was tipped in the Investors Chronicle maybe.... | trytotakeiteasy
03/11/2016 11:19 | Yes, have checked the news. All property shares up on the High Court decision. Cannot buy shares in Djan, you have to go to 'fill or kill'and enter a bid. Well that is a right mess now ,anyone's guess how things are going to pan out. Not complaining as shares in Djan have been in the doldrums for15 months due to Brexit worries. R. | retsius
03/11/2016 11:09 | Not complaining.. too much... but what...I can only think it is the High Court Brexit vote decision | trytotakeiteasy
03/11/2016 11:00 | Something must be up ? | retsius
03/11/2016 10:29 | TTTE Must have heard you, good rise today.... but will it last? | retsius
01/11/2016 21:59 | well here's hoping.... in a best case scenario the NAV would increase in the interim result and investor sentiment would turn around....my small interim dividend from the shares will be reinvested in any event... | trytotakeiteasy
01/11/2016 09:02 | TTTE I share your frustration with this share. There seems to be little or no publicity and no updates or information on the company. The assets of £90 per share does give one a certain degree of comfort however and look forward to a positive interim statement, late Nov. The American assets should have appreciated strongly due to the much weaker pound against the dollar. Div. should be arriving next week. R. | retsius
31/10/2016 23:23 | Obviously I am not the kind of investor who complains or whines.. but now at a 40% discount to the 31 March 2016 NAV of £90.82. Obviously Brexit jitters etc.. however, given the low gearing and long-term track record this looks quite stingy.... Interim results towards the end of November... hard to know if the NAV will go up or down given the US assets....hazarding a guess I would say maybe a 0-5% NAV decline due to Brexit revaluations in the UK..... any other guesses out there??? | trytotakeiteasy |
