11/5/2020 17:50 | Three months later, over 50% lost and a new closing low. This share is very predictable, look at the chart, over any time frame | cancun tango
11/5/2020 11:50 | Ive very foolishly taken a tiny nibble today.
Silly boy. | escapetohome

Justify their existence

09/4/2020 05:48 | Hi TB,It's certainly been a rocky journey for many years, and CV is just the latest curve-ball to hit the company and its target markets. My experience of doing business in India (in particular) is that you need the patience of a saint - point well proven!Good luck with your other endeavours - certainly we are living through Interesting Times! tightfist | tightfist
01/4/2020 10:58 | The Cronin business plan is a bit like selling £10 notes for £5 but his biggest 2 fans over at glee club don't seem to grasp the flaw with that. | mtw
31/3/2020 19:47 | According to a post over at the not so glee Club this car crash of a company has lost just shy of £31M in 4 years. How the fork have these clowns been allowed to carry on trousering obscene salaries, bonuses and get this “consulting fees”. It would have cost less to pay Coco the Clown consulting fees for no worse result.
Still never mind. This Gravy train has a few more payrolls left. | lwaxf13
31/3/2020 15:37 | Another great set of results. JC and the leadership team are world class. I hope they are working from home on all the orders and whatever it is they do all day. I guess not much point even logging into a pc at Cyan. Can just see tumbleweed rolling across the “projects completed” folder. | lwaxf13
23/3/2020 14:34 | ....looking a bit more positive in relative terms now though....India will be key. | emptyend
23/3/2020 07:46 | Another tip-toe forward RNS this morning - Cash up-front and more transparency on pricing. One also wonders how the government CV assistance package and emerging keep-the-wolf-from-the-door mindset can help CC get over the line?.In the meantime I see India is taking serious measures; time for the national eco-partners to really deliver? tightfist | tightfist
17/3/2020 12:01 | The share price is higher than it was at Christmas. Over the past few weeks of market turmoil it has outperformed the market. You can“t say that of many shares.
Credit where it is due: excellent crisis management by the board. | orange1

24/2/2020 11:29 | One would think that technologies that reduce the need for person-to-person contact .....eg remote meter readings.... would be net beneficiaries of concerns about people moving around..........no sign of that yet though..... | emptyend
07/2/2020 13:47 | Hi MB;I looked further and fortunately Sampoorna ("for Distribution Transformer") is a Genus trademark, and utilises GPRS and "LPRF" technology - page 4:https://www.european-utility-week.com/__media/libraries/brochures/9FABA97D-0956-C471-0688403D3E27BC18-document.pdf.Genus seems to be an impressive, market-leading, company and has now invested in ongoing SM technology evolution (which it presents as if it was its own IP?), so IMO no issues here..This is a useful, if old, investor analyst overview I came across along the way:https://www.dynamiclevels.com/uploads/research-reports/1466767148_GENUS-POWER-INFRASTRUCTURES-13062016.pdf.Cheers, tightfistFrom August 2018:https://www.indiainfoline.com/company/genus-power-infrastructures-ltd/management-discussions/4962 | tightfist
06/2/2020 14:58 | Hi tightfist,
I don't have any direct knowledge, but based on the link below it appears that it may be reliant on GPRS or an earlier form of RF for communication.
So in these so called "smart meters" (I speculate that the concept/definition of what is a "smart meter" is likely to have changed over the last 7 years). I am of the view that CYAN/we were NOT involved in the RF tech used in Sampoorna meter. To me the Sampoorna sounds like a legacy meter (though a nice earner for Genus) which may be at the point of obsolesence in the ongoing smart meter rollout in India. | multibagger
06/2/2020 14:17 | Hi MB,Yes, I suppose I had increasingly taken the ongoing stream of tenders as a "given" and have shifted my focus to look around the periphery for emerging competitive incursion..eg I noted at the top of Genus Call P8 a reference to the "intelligent Sampoorna" group meter having been produced for 7 years and was said to be "as good as" a Smart Meter:."Primarily these are smart meters and all the high-end conventional meters like intelligent group meter, intelligent Sampoorna meter. They are as good as smart meters and we have been manufacturing these from last six seven years., So these meters are also two-way communication capable meters which are also high-end that ibrings a good margin.".Any info appreciated, tightfist | tightfist
06/2/2020 07:06 | Good morning tightfist,
Yes there was also mention of various contracts/bids that are in the pipeline in States that they are pursuing ( Last para on Page 3). I think that there is a very high probability that CYAN would be in the running in those bids too as a partner. | multibagger
05/2/2020 23:30 | Hi MB,Many thanks for the Genus link - very interesting reading on how Smart Meter demand is developing, the tenders process, distancing from the Chinese, etc. Highlighted emphasis of settlement (receivables) history from potential customers is reassuring, and that Genus are more able to support supplier Cyan...... Their stated annual capability of 10m meters is sound, currently running at 2/3 capacity..Best of all is the emphasis on indigenous suppliers and the Chinese being kept at arms-length..Cheers, tightfist | tightfist
05/2/2020 19:33 | Hi tightfist,
Pertinent to note that the circa $3 billion outlay is only for the year and with the size of the rollout, more funding to follow.
With regards to competition, I would be guided by the Genus Earnings call from 27 Jan 2020...where this issue is raised and addressed (Edit Page 8 & 9). The Agarwals own a little more than 50% of Genus (from memory), so I imagine they keep a close eye on the sector and competition.
The transcript is quite enlightening about their learning curve as a company and what is happening in the sector. It appears they have become more selective as to who they work with Discom/utility wise. So from a CYAN perspective, our conversion rate to firm contracts from bids that we partner with Genus (notwithstanding we also a part of bids with L&T and HPL) could be higher ?
