12/3/2018 17:13 | Nowt to do with crazed vegans. All to do with a poorly run company running from excuse to excuse for terrible decision-making. | igbertsponk
12/3/2018 17:09 | Did anyone listen ? CRAW were about 30p at the time I posted buywell3 - 30 Jul 2017 - 10:21:26 - 5309 of 5825 BEEF UP YOUR INVESTMENT - CRAW ............ Shall I BUY a BUTCHERS SHOP ? ................ I read today news that confirms my thoughts that the strategy here of opening new shops to sell meat is seriously flawed For starters taking on more staff and paying leases on new shops or building new ones is very high risk in the current retail environment Also because property prices are falling and so are leases The scary thing though re meat sales is that sales of Vegan Foods have gone up 1500% in the last 12 months One Thousand Five Hundred per cent in the last year These folks don't eat meat Nearly 50% of Vegans are under 34 years old ie they are going to be around for ages Also it means that younger people in increasing numbers are turning away from meat consumption. Then there are the Vegetarians .... who have not yet become vegans but probably many will In 2008 The “ So it ain't too far wrong to deduce that roughly the number of vegetarians V vegans is a ratio of 7 to 1 Most vegetarians eat fish or poultry .... not many eat Beef though IMO what we are seeing is the death of the meat industry A growth of 1500% of vegan foods in 12 months says do .... not me ... don't shoot the messenger Anyone recommend a vegan foods listed company ? dyor | buywell3
03/3/2018 15:50 | The 2 Sisters Food Group at the centre of a meat factory scandal was guilty of regulatory failures and poor hygiene at its poultry plants, according to a report by the Food Standards Agency. Ranjit Boparan steps down from 2 Sisters role | playful
01/3/2018 10:43 | You can see what's coming now in April's RNS, factory shops & central packaging will save this once thriving business, staff moral is at its highest, food safety training is ongoing we managed two 1 stars & two 2 stars last year, the beast from the east have obliterated LFL so far this year. And no mention as to why they performed so poorly last year. Me thinks people are bored with the bullsh@t | owletta
28/2/2018 12:06 | I just bought 3000 @ 6.72p recorded as a sell...got to live dangerously once in a while ;-) | optomistic
28/2/2018 10:34 | Collett doesn't own any shares does he? Recorded as zero in last Annual Report and no RNS since. He has an incentive share scheme but that hasn't paid out yet (can't think why!). | analyst
28/2/2018 09:59 | Ahh yes, closed period good point. | playful
28/2/2018 09:56 | Why on earth would he want to waste money buying this, I thought his job was to suck as much out as possible, does he get a bonus as well? lol | owenski
28/2/2018 09:46 | Zero chance of that - they should be in a closed period re accounts and strategic review so not able to buy. | igbertsponk
28/2/2018 09:08 | I wonder if that 100K was Noel? Must be a fair chance as pressure is growing. | playful
25/2/2018 11:56 | They seem to focus on trade but are now clearly growing the retail side. The shop fitters were still in this new Leeds shop, but it looked near completion to me. The trade site is: They own their own farm in the Peak District National Park according the company website. We recognise that our customers are looking for something special to put on their menus. Ticking all the boxes of provenance, quality and sustainability, the Underwood Meat Group's farm achieves exactly that. | playful
25/2/2018 10:45 | One on the outskirts of Barnsley as well, seems very popular. They do a points on purchase promotion, not sure about the figures but you collect so many points then get a discount on your next purchase. Old idea but a friend goes to the shop and often mentions how many points he got, for him it is a novelty but they do get his custom. Similar prices to Crawshaws but the layout in this shop seemed more attractive. | optomistic
24/2/2018 21:45 | What do you know about the Underwood Meat company ? They seem to have a similar offering to Crawshaws.... | davidosh
24/2/2018 16:48 | I visited the new Lidl supermarket on the recently opened Belgrave Retail Park in Leeds this morning. It was far too busy, so took a walk outside. The retail park had the usual names but noticed “The Butcher’s Shop” it’s a new store from the Rotherham based Underwood Meat Company, but it does show if you get a location with 300 car parking spaces instead of 5 you have a fair chance of making a success of things. Chris Grice, retail operations manager for The Butcher’s Shop, said: We have designed our opening offers to showcase our mission to provide customers with a wide selection of quality meat products at consistently low prices. We’re also bringing our popular regular offers to the store, including our three for £6 mix and match offer, our £19.99 family meat hamper and our three packs for £5 deal on our sausage range. | playful
22/2/2018 19:24 | Very sharp penciles2. 2 sisters shareholding is a poison pill to any other option short of shrinking the business further and retracing some steps. Would be a smart move for them, as long as they aren't in direct competition locally | waterloo01
22/2/2018 19:21 | 2 sisters will wait for it to go into administration then pick up only the best shops and renegotiate the leases rest will close. | penciles2
22/2/2018 08:49 | A good question to ask the CEO - When do you think your wage bill will be larger than the M.cap of the company based on declining share price here. | owenski
22/2/2018 08:39 | Whatever the cash balance is, you need to take off a goodly chunk for shop closure costs. And I suspect an even bigger chunk for the inevitable CEO payoff. | igbertsponk
21/2/2018 18:16 | Such is the lack of confidence here that the share at 6.5p could well be trading at or near the company cash balance The store roll outs need to stop right now to preserve cash and the uneconomical stores opened in that rush for growth closed down. The BOD could then concentrate on the profitable factory stores and getting the group back in profit at a PLC level. Small steps needed to get some confidence going! I doubt though that the major shareholder would want this as it reduces the demand for its surplus food it sells to craw. If the group is profitable when you take out the new store roll out costs, then at this level 2S could easily bid for the group and basically turn its waste/surplus into easy cash flow. It would also have strategic significance as it would be able to overproduce for supermarkets in anticipation of offers with confidence that it could sell the surplus direct to the public via retail 2S could Strip out the 700k directors bill and the plc costs and the new store roll out expenditure and even if they bid 15p (circa £9 million for the 70% it doesn't own) the mathematics would seem compelling. Craw claim the margin is circa 47% so 2S would effectually double the price it gets for its surplus meat if it owned the chain outright. I am not a buyer, however the lower it goes the more attractive the proposition becomes for 2S. aimho | s1zematters
21/2/2018 17:57 | Agreed. Well davidosh, you asked for feedback and you got it. Looking forward to hearing what management have to say. | waterloo01
21/2/2018 17:16 | Owletta it will be off the market before it gets to 3p. | optomistic
21/2/2018 16:19 | I'm in at 3p | owletta
21/2/2018 15:08 | owenski- The deal helps 2s reduce levels of food 'that would go to waste'! (quote from rns on deal) I visited some Friends in Maltby and was left uninspired to buy craw shares after. I personally expect LFL dramatically down and cash burn continuation. Meanwhile Maltby has a fantastic, spotless well staffed McKenzie Meats just 2 miles from the Craw head office. The Boyd's really don't seem to care that much about bad weather, fluctuating currency, upcoming football tournaments or political votes when opening butchers. What's more, even though i am sure they would not like it mentioned, i understand that they helped out poor families in that community with free meat at Christmas! That kind of charity builds customer loyalty and pays back in double digits the initial cost. Craw needs to get back the local community butcher feel that has been strangled out of it by the overburdening centralization and mass corporate roll out of identikit stores that worked for LIDL but alas doesn't work for Northern butchers! aimho | s1zematters |
