14/10/2016 19:48 | Was that last deal of 100K shares a buy or a sell? | tadders2
12/10/2016 15:09 | Spot on mcmather. Too many work in reverse imo, setting paper margins and working backwards and trying to adjust product and staff to suit. Not realistic. Start with product and staff quality at the right level to make customers delighted, then fine tune and if necessary keep changing suppliers to get the very best continuous quality at the best price, don't get lazy and let suppliers sneak prices up and quality down, there are ALWAYS others more than willing to take their place. It's a simple formula and it works. | paleje
12/10/2016 14:24 | Travels the past 8/9 days have taken me in / past the shops at Bolton (twice) and Widnes. Shops have been busy - Bolton possibly more so with the food to go than the butcher side; I actually left the Bolton shop the other day due to the amount of people waiting to be served. One thing I did (edit) notice is that there was a 'nobbler' at the shop front shouting their offerings to passer-bys (Bolton on just the one occasion mind). This is something that appeared to have died away in the past few 4-6 months. But something that the management need to reinforce, if only between busy periods; lunch and towards the close of business. Look after your staff and the simple business plan here will work fine; if the management have not already read this... "In establishing a global network of hotels that have become a household name, Mr Sharp has never made his formula for success a secret. He says it is all down to offering the best possible service, which - crucially - he says is only possible if staff are happy." | mcmather
11/10/2016 19:05 | Yes good news indeed, now holding over 3%. | battlebus2

08/10/2016 08:58 | Fair comment pogue, I know I'd prefer if the could source all their meat from the UK and Ireland. | battlebus2
08/10/2016 07:11 | I don't understand the problem with imported meat costs do any supermarkets source meat wholly from the UK? If so they may have an advantage but if not everyone has the same meat costs. Besides the reason for using imported meat was because it was cheaper than UK sourced so now it maybe closer to parity. Anyone care to explain the issue? | pogue
07/10/2016 17:09 | Hope we are chasing for compensation: | playful
07/10/2016 14:26 | Didn't know they sold elephant meat. | igbertsponk

07/10/2016 13:18 | Fall in GBP got to be a big problem for imported meat costs | hydrus
07/10/2016 11:53 | If they setup a factory shop in York it will be on the outskirts think Elvington side and with hundreds of cars in the race course not everyone is getting trollied, although admittedly the majority do. The whole point of the new focus is to build destination shops and I can't think of a better location which is easily serviced by their current infrastructure. The race course is just a bonus, but who knows we could sponsor a race "The Crawshaw butcher Christmas hamper handicap" | playful
07/10/2016 01:08 | Last beef; whoever the clown was that thought it would be really 'smart' to suggest that an international football tournament and brexit contributed in any way to a reduction in footfall wants jettisoning from the company, if they have not already gone. Neither will have had any effect whatsoever in a reduction in footfall. What will is having to increase margins - ie increase prices - to pay for the additional clowns who now appeared to be employed by the business; ie those involved around social media and those who suggested brexit and a defeat against Iceland were relevant. Part of the reason for brexit was the quiet man having had enough of clowns spouting rollocks about how issues that don't effect us, somehow do... These gripes are obviously unrelated to any jetlag that I might have... | mcmather
07/10/2016 00:37 | Sorry but disagree re targeting York race goers (I've been quite a few times in the past and nipping in to a strategically placed butchers in the town would not be in my top 50 things to do on such an occasion) and the previous reference to business likely to be booming in Leicester cause they won the league (same reason plus they only allow the same number of away fans as last season). You need regular customers and you get that by providing a decent product at a decent price and not by some too highly paid dipstick proposing some new fangled social media run which will get "1000 likes" - but generate no real revenue. The previous business plan appeared to be working. I've been in the stores in Bolton, Warrington and Widnes and spoken to people from those places. Just canny folk who don't do giddy (and this including 'likes' and 'LOLs' on social media...) and just want decent food at a decent price; ie keep it simple and don't try to be 'clever'. This aint rock science. | mcmather
06/10/2016 22:22 | Pork pies would go well :-) | optomistic
06/10/2016 21:11 | I doubt that would work playful - perhaps you haven't been into York in an eve on a race day? Don't think the priority is cheap meat!! | janeann
06/10/2016 20:20 | presumably the managers have discretion within certain price limits on any particular item , and can only discount so many items - or the place could fall apart very quickly!! | janeann
06/10/2016 19:49 | CT....Well I think you need to give them at least six months to see if the customers are back and happy. I think the factory store roll out will need to be proven over ten stores at least rather than just four even though they are performing so well. So more time needed before judging further. | davidosh
06/10/2016 19:25 | davidosh Not often but I disagree. pound falling costs going up. I do not see any turnround. time will tell tiger | castleford tiger
06/10/2016 12:17 | Talking of Christmas, this is the biggest Turkey, that i have bought for many year | mr hangman
06/10/2016 12:14 | davidosh - hardly rocket science that is it ? Sounds like yet another excuse for poor performance. | igbertsponk
06/10/2016 11:38 | Davidosh no point trying to explain to those whose only motive is to deramp... | battlebus2 |
